If you leave her behind she never has a chance to change dumbo. The entirety of the game does not play out in act 1.
Pretty much this. Lae'zel comes from a society that is solely militaristic, zealous and on an endless quest to hunt down and end Mind flayers.
From birth they are trained to fight. Because their society had to overcome and evolve to be this way as they used to be slaves to the Illithids.
She's blunt, direct and solely focused on the task at hand. She dislikes distractions and helping people just for the sake of it. But is fully okay with being deceptive and using intimidation tactics as long as you keep moving forward and don't linger.
She has lots of development, if you let her.
What I dont like is that you kill her and her corpse stays in the camp for an eternity.
Larian should patch it up and you could have her buried, cremated, dump in the swamp of the hags, anything, but out of my freaking camp.
She's got that get ♥♥♥♥ done attitude.
Y'know, this post convinced me to give Lae a chance on romance in my next playthrough. I am currently romancing Shadowheart, and I felt pretty much what you said about Lae with her, so I think its very likely true that Lae also has a nice development. Shadow on the start comes off a bit arrogant, and you can't even be sure if you can trust her because she keeps a lot in the dark, but once she understands she can let her guard down around you she changes.
Modern fanfic D&D (5e..) is afraid of this fact, but many of the races in forgotten realms are simply evil by nature. Drizzt do urden is supposed to be nearly unique, 98% of the drow are a murderous matriarchal theocracy who sacrifice their enemies to Lolth on bloody altars.
99.99% of orcs are just wild savages. Or any goblinoid.
And tieflings, while not inherently evil, are constantly beset by the urges of their fiendish blood. or they are SUPPOSED to be.
Lae'zel can (and does) change after visiting the Creche. It says more about your party leadership skills and less about Lae'zel (or any of the other companions) if they are routinely fighting and/or killing themselves.
I romanced her in my first run through. It was actually very good development she had which I obviously wont spoil for you as you wish to see it for yourself. Unless you wish me to of course.
But there is a definite change from Nautiloid Lae'zel, and act 3 Lae'zel. Obviously, it still falls down to your choices throughout the story that involves her. They do play a role.
She drained you too huh?
It's great, that you are enjoying being evil in the game, but plz don't try to do the same in RL. You'll go to jail very quickly...
She isn't a bad character, your morales are just utterly screwed.
Also, she doesn't lose to Shadowheart. Shadowheart literally ambushes Laezel in her sleep.
