Is there some way to turn the die roll animation off?
This crap is getting really annoying.

What I want is

1. If I don't have a bonus to select to apply then just roll the dice in the background and give me the result.

2. If I do then just pop that up - no flashy fade in or anything, just pop it up. I click on the bonus, hit the dice, and then it just displays a result. No dice roll waiting, no 'click again to continue'.

The number of clicks needed to do anything, the amount of time spent waiting on menu animations . . .

Open the launcher, click twice to get to the sign up page, click twice to skip past it, click twice to launch the game, once the game finally launches *click again to get to the menu* and then wait while a long animation plays before you actually get to the start menu.

I'm not asking you to stop with the flourishes - I just want an option to turn them off.

Yes, it's Shift+F4

If you click it will skip the animations, but you have to click every time. There's no way to just disable them.
I'd like such an option myself.

I think that's what meant, but if not, I'm curious what shift+F4 actually does.

I find myself remembering why the industry standard is for these calculations to happen in the background. But it's part of the experience.

Nimrods buy a D & D game and then complain because it plays like . . . . a D & D game.

FYI you can add
--skip-launcher
to the launch options of the game to, well, skip the launcher.

That said, I would also like them to either improve (aka shorten) the dice roll animation and just give me a Disco Elysium style quick spin and result, or give the option to disable them.

You're playing a game that is based on rolling a dice and a ton of it's mechanics are based on said dice rolls...........and you don't want the dice rolls?
I feel you should have picked a different game to play.

I get that WotC likes a d20 shoved in people faces as the icosahedron is part of their branding, but after the 50th (even the 2nd) time, I'd like to just pick bonuses if available and get the result without delay.

You misread. It's not having dice rolled. It's having to watch the dice roll each time when the result is already determined. Cut the animation and provide the result without having to click or tap a button. That's what's being requested, not removing dice from the game.

Agree, would be a nice QoL feature. I know it doesn't happen in Pathfinder (though it has its own issues), and I don't think it happens in Solasta either.

I agree with Incuna entirely. For those talking about game mechanics, IF you can SKIP by clicking, then the number id DECIDED before the animation. So, whether it plays the animation or not, is purely aesthetic. It slows down the GAME a lot in certain areas, like Sharr's Gauntlet. I got so tired of it, I tried to turn it off too. If you can skip, and the calculation is done the moment you click, there should be a setting to toggle dice animation.

Baldur's Gate 1 & 2 never needed to show dice being rolled. They understood that it's a video game adaption of a board game, not a literal recreation.

They also don't put story content on dice rolls, because obviously people are just going to reload. It's only combat hits and thief actions (and even thief actions are kind of pointless because people will still just reload).

They even make a joke about it near the end of the game where they break the 4th wall and allow you to hire a low level adventuring party to do a quest, standing in place for days while waiting for them to return, then they try to attack you and get a bad roll, so reload the game and don't attack.

Honestly I agree, if it did a check in the background I'd be okay with it. But thats also 100% my fault because I'm impatient and clicking through the dice rolls pains me.
