How can I run Baldur's Gate without Steam?

Whenever I run the exe. files it opens Steam before running the game. I have not created a Larian account, do I need to have an account to run it without Steam?

(I'm trying to make a custom sidekick...)

bg3_dx11.exe or launcher? bg3_d11.exe runs without steam. maybe you need disabel cloudsave

Maybe GoG?
If steam hurts your performance try offline mode
You can also disable the steam overlay as that can use a bit of resources (Not nearly as much as it used to though)

You basically gave yourself the answer already. Exit Steam app before you do so. For the rest, see here

It shouldn't open Steam (if closed) if you launch the game directly from its executables.
