How does long rest work? Something about camping supplies?

so every food item seems to have some number for camping supplies? but what does that mean? how many supplies do i need to full heal and refill my spells?

you go to camp, it uses camp supplies, aka food, drinks, etc.. you need 40 points worth.. <easy to find if you loot everything you see along the way.. fish on the ground, bottle of booze etc.. you can do a short rest and some of your spells get renewed and your hit points, but it takes a long rest for all your used spells to be usable again..

You need 80 camp supplies for a full long rest.
If you don't have enough, you only get half your spell slots and no short rests.

Though it really isn't difficult to manage. Never once bought supplies from the infinitely restocking vendors, and im WELL into the 4 digits of supplies in my stash. I could rest dozens of times without having to worry.

You need 40 supplies If you're playing on Explorer/Balanced and 80 If you're on Tactician. Supplies come in many forms, there are food and drinks and there are also items called 'supply pack'.

Nah, i think a short rest might give some back tho

No, you have to long rest. Or play a Warlock. They get spell slots back on short rest instead of long.

There are several items that let you restore spellslots, but they are limited. In general you'll have plenty of spells per day at higher levels.

Also people are talking about it costing 40 supplies? Is the 80 cost a tactician thing?

Yes, it resting supply usage is double on tactician difficulty.

Hm, interesting. I thought they just generally raised the amount needed compared to EA. Makes sense why I didn't know about the normal 40 though.
