Longbows?

Ok, so I am slowly finishing act 3 and the best longbow is still that blue +1 one fro Waukeen's rest in act 1? Wtf? Have I missed any good ones by mistake? No purple longbows in the game? No legendary ones?

The game has pretty poor itemization on the whole, not just for longbows.

BTW, the wiki has a lot of information on what is available in the game. Though I don't know how up-to-date it is for the release version. According to it, there is one orange one.

There are other bows. You're either missing equipment or are too obsessed with that particular bow.

really i found a purple bow bow that does frighten on hit and also applies blind and does like 8 to 16 damage in act 2. the loot is random for the most part some is pre placed bu its alot of rng

actually, let me rant a little more - I do have an issue with balance of items. For example, I've noticed 4 or 5 great gloves for unarmed combatants (so - monks) but so far seen only one green gloves dedicated for archers. Haven't seen any REALLY good rings for my ranger as well. Nor necklaces. Everything is for unarmed/melee or for rogues or mages. Was ranger gear a cut content or something? :D

I think I know which one you are talking about, but wasn't it shortbow? I was talking about longbows. And, if wiki is right, there is in fact joltshooter in act 1 and then nothing until legendary one in act 3.

This. I've been a meticulous looter and checked every shop in every corner of every act, but still the best longbow is joltshooter, which is completely inadequate in act 3 :/

Item economy is completely busted in this game. It's a low level campaign for the most part. You're filthy rich at level 5. More than you ever would be in a well balanced pen and paper campaign.

Maybe, there should be some +2 items around the end of the game, but by then you're not even going to get much value from them since the game's almost over. The game is really short and small in scope once you finish Act 1.

You shouldn't expect to have every slot filled with great items in a D&D campaign. It just doesn't happen unless your DM wants to make everything super easy on the players.

If you want to complain about items in the game. Complain about how abundant items are relative to the amount of content the game has to offer.

I hate the itemization so far. So many garbage items that only make sense if you have some kind of weird damage theme.

I am almost done with Act 2, level 9.5 party. The absolute best ranged weapon I have seen is a the +1 heavy crossbow that banes a target if it fails a CHA save. I think I got this around level 4.

I have found a handful of decent short bows, a pair of +2 one that gives extra attack from the shadows (good luck knowing when you are in shadows) and another that provides cold and fire resist. I think I bought both of them.

A boss drops a +2 hand crossbow with an effect.

No longbows. Jolt Shooter is the best I have seen.

Melee weapons kind of suck too. Lots of meh 2h weapons. Tons of pole arms for some reason.

They did a better job with armor than weapons IMO. Shields suck though. I don't think I have seen one that gives better than +2 AC.

There's only 2 that do have more than +2 afaik.

I swapped out what I"m assuming you're referring to(titanstring bow) when I got the xbow from the demon in the shar temple. It allowed me to swap out the archer gloves for the dual wield gloves since my rogue wasn't proficient in long bows I needed the archer gloves to use it right.

I'm before that, just slightly. What I have issue with is that if you use longbow, you are forced to carry +1 one from act 1 right until the end of act 3. And shortbows aren't my 1st choice because longbows give you better abilities, like brace.

5E was purged of meaningful items to preserve he balance or whatever. +3 is the top shelf, and since the game goes to 12 you won't see anything better than +2 I suppose.

In the city you can buy a +2 shortbow, and one of the bosses drops a +2 crossbow, but I saw no noteworthy longbow. I got a small collection of +2 melee weapons, both the polearm variety or one-handed, with several light ones for dualwielding.
Armorwise I saw two solid platemails, one of them +2 (Dammons shop I believe). There are also two medium armor pieces that allow full DEX (yuan-ti armor and the unwanted mail in Dammons shop). I saw no shield thus far with even +1, they are all the standard variety with +2 shield bonus.
