How to clear cave-in to rescue Nere? Stuck

I've tried everything I can think of, Fire , ice, shatter, digging with shovel, damage types, even rained water on it. Please help a fella out here and let me know how to clear this stupid cave-in. I'm probably missing something obvious.

Thanks guys, I managed to save the gnomes And not kill Nere :)

One doesn't rescue Nere, one does a little beheading.

Also, try grenades.

2x Smokepowder Satchel (found near the kitchen on Grymforge) + Fire arrow/ fire spell/ Torch

OR

2x Smokepower bombs (found on Goblin Camp or Blighted Village) like i did. (just be carefull to trow them high if you gonna do this method. kill the Capitan and a battle will start)

Explosives. Or a character with GWM and a maul.

If you happen to have someone with Great Weapon Master, you can give them a Maul and just bash your way through.

just rescued him and walked away, geting in later to retrieve Nere's head. problem solved itself really XD

Not killing Nere gets you an advantage infiltrating the moonstone place.
