Uh... Dragonborn from D&D straight up predate Skyrim? They were first from 3.5, with the source book they were originally from releasing in 2006. That's a full 5 years before Skyrim.
The races are a bit weird with the drow being pulled out of the elf subrace category and split into two identical races.
What is missing is well covered, but meh. Its plenty of choices, and I am satisfied with the offering.
id rather like to see other races like kobolds, fairy, harengon, kenku, tabaxi...
There's nothing wrong with "I don't like the Githyanki in general" because [insert your favorite reason here].
But comparing a fictional race (which was a former slave race long enough to have forgotten its origins, thanks to its masters, just saying) to NeoN*zis is highly offending and shouldn't be ignored easily.

A different take:
True.
Then again, just pick ANY race in Elder Scrolls Lore and tell 'em they're not racist. You even can consider the Altmer (the settings take on High Elves) as "lawful evil" as, in the long turn, they want to "ascend to godhood by unmaking reality". It even makes Dunmer (Dark Elves / "Drow") look less racist - and out of five high houses, two are build on slaves and all of them look down on anyone that isn't them. But at least they don't want unmake reality ...
Both beast races (Argonians and Kajiit) are always victims of extreme racism, mostly by all kinds of elves, less so by men.
Just saying. When it comes to racism, fictional races are usually guilty. Some more, some less, but all of them are massively racist against each other.
In D&D at least, it's because Orcs were a villain/monster race, so they were only included as a playable race later in Monsters of the Multiverse. As for the half orc bit... I guess if you ♥♥♥♥ an orc it makes a non-evil child? lol
It's really weird.
Yeah I mean I'm not -unhappy- with the options. We have a lot, and it's fantastic, better than 90% of games. Just several things I'd love to see in an update. :)
I don't think any of that matters.
It's a video game. I bet more people playing this don't even know what they are before they roll their character than do know it. They're going off visuals and racials. And the visuals of the gith are so bad the decent racials don't make up for it.
The people making this choice over lore are going to be rare. It's looks. I bet if the game came standard with a mod that made them look like the elves they'd be a top pick.
so i dont know why would people not want to play this race, amaright >?
They don't feel a bit like **** Germans as they don't genocide innocent ppl. They're a former slave race still fighting against their former masters. And they've been a slave race long enough to have forgotten who they really were before (including their race's name). So whatever they were before, now they're "Space Spartans" or "Klingons" or some other "proud warrior race" that puts combat proficiency and personal honor before anything else as they're in an everlasting war against the Mindflayers.
I actually can sympathize.
If you cut the slave race part, what's left feels like Imperial Japan. Or maybe Imperial Germany. But decidedly NOT **** Germany.
I was playinbg as the typical goody goody character, but then every Githyanki i encountered was a massive ♥♥♥♥. My character felt so out of place that i just had to scrub that game and make a new one.
