Most likely. And hello again.
it is hard to tell what you did and what not already. Maybe sharing the savegame or journal screenshot could help. In general most fail at the beginning at one thing
gamified thinking
while it is not exactly wrong, it is not right either in a role play game. Would you attack the goblins head on in real life without preparation? Or would you look for other approaches?
That in addition to the fact, that there might be of course other stuff you need to do first to level up. But for that a journal screenshot would be helpful.
which goblin leader you try to kill?
Just reload until you get critical hits and the enemy gets critical misses. The RnG in this game is awful.
GIT GUD SCRUB
All honesty, Baldur gate always had learning curves and rng as part of the game. You have to remember, It's based on DUNGEONS & DRAGONS.
At lvl 3 use, Lae'zel, Shadowheart and Gale and you should be good what ever you have an extra warrior would be nice, like the MC.
Use your potions, scrolls, just don't stock them.
And yes, the one above is right, do all the quest, you need to be at least lvl 4 for the goblins camp, i was lvl 5
Never rush headfirst into combat and consider your options and tools at your disposal, also since the game provides so much interactivity with objects and characters outside and during combat keep this always in mind aswell.
Characters with high strengt might simply push an enemy over the ledge behind them, or ignite a puddle of oil with their spells instead of directly attack an enemy with it and so on.
Reminded me of this

Most enemies can almost one shot you if you make a mistake.
