Owlbear cub eating its mother forever
I'm currently near the end of Act 2 (Nightsong prison), and I suddenly realized that I haven't got the baby owlbear yet, although I've done with the goblin camp a loooooooong time ago (owlbear cub is not there).

So I went back to the owlbear cave, and the cub is still eating its mother...

So, I knew this is tooooo late for that, but did I miss something, which would make the goblins steal the baby owlbear?

Have the same issue in my play-through. Tried all sorts of things to solve it. Never worked out.

My thought is that... probably you have to somehow side with the goblins (to some extent) to trigger that event? IDK tho.

Im not sure if youre able to get the cub if you kill the mom. I used non lethal to take her down on each of my chars. To be fair I have just started Act 2, so I could be wrong.

I mean....there is a lot of her to eat.

If the mother dies (she will die to goblins if you don't kill her) the cub is supposed to appear in the goblin camp, you're supposed to clear it out or convince the goblins to let you have it, then you tell it to go to your camp and it's supposed to show up after a few long rests, but i don't think it stays in your camp, it stops by for a visit every few long rests.

If the cub did not show up at the goblin camp then that likely means the flag was not tripped and thus caused the cub to stay in the cave with its dead mother.

I didnt kill the mother, and before finish act 2 I came back to check on them and the mother had been slaughtered by goblind and the cub taken to the goblin camp. I didnt clear the whole camp, just the bosses, so I had clear my path to the cub

After visting your camp a couple of times th cub stays there forever, if you fed him and heal him

I HOPE THIS WAS FIXED TODAY :(

You can also get him to your camp before erasing the whole goblin camp:-)

As long as everything went without bugs when you meet him and it's mother for the first time in the cave, just talk with the goblin that has him and, indepentently if you agree or not to do the running bet, you can always return to her and tell her you are taking him with you. You will have to do a DEX check.
If everything went well, sleep several times and he will appear in the camp (cutscene). After that there will be several cutscenes with him and when you are through, he will stay with you.

Also from patch6:
Good boys Scratch and the owlbear cub will now play together in any camp, not just the main one in the wilderness from Act I.

When you were at the Goblin camp after talking to Volo and they take him away did you interact with the goblin heading up the Chicken Chasin event?
That is what triggers Owlbear cub to eventually come to your camp (if you tell it to follow your scent)

The issue is that the Owlbear cub isn't at the goblin camp, it's still back in the cave eating its mother. Instead the regular chicken is there (the one that the owlbear cub would have eaten.)

I've run into this a couple times and something doesn't flag correctly causing the owlbear cub to never show up at the goblin camp. Since the owlbear isn't there, you can't give it your scent.

I had this problem in my latest playthrough. From what I read up it happened because I returned to camp to swap in Shadowheart for her interactions with the sélunite shrine. Apparently doing anything other than interacting with the owlbears and leaving the cave through the entrance can screw up the flags. The advice I found online was to deal with them, leave the cave immediately and long rest but by the time I found out I'd already made too much progress elsewhere.

Recently, I've done this: I've killed the owlbear mother before first entering the goblin camp. Then the owlbear cub has been waiting at the goblin camp for chicken chasing. I've also used speak with animals to convince the cub to sprint for the goal. Seems like there are a few ways to lock yourself out of this

A question: if you side with the goblins, how can you get the cub? Just curious.

You can peacefully enter the goblin camp and then liberate the owlbear.
After that you can still side against the goblins later.
If you attack all goblins onnsight though, I'm not sure owlbear survives.
