This game is in beta state. Period.

And its funny to read yet another person calling people fanboys because their experience is different and they're not following the narrative you're trying to set.

For me personally the game ran amazing with little in the way of bugs and it didn't feel rushed.

That is MY experience though, and I'm not denying bugs exist or that other people are having problems. There are just too many permutations of setups out there for a release to not have issues for certain people these days. But this release still blows multiple AAA ones out of the water in recent years.

To OP, as you're looking for opinions outside of an echo chamber I assume. No the game did not feel rushed and for me it was not buggy, although your milage may vary.

Fr. Literally only but I've experienced is the jump command being extremely finicky in some spots.

Oh and there's one character in act 2 who has a ... "scar". Said scar just disappears and reappears occasionally... Hardly a game breaking bug.

Example quests which are not possible to finish, at least for my playthrough.

1- Find Mystic Carrion's Servant. I found him already, gave heart to Mystic Carrion but still game says I have to find Thrumbo
2- Investigate Cazador's Place - Report back to Ulma is not working.
3- The Grand Duke quest. Wyll has exclamation mark on him when we are on camp, but he says nothing out of ordinary (join me or leave are the options)
4- Defeat Gortash. Castle gates are not open. I had to jump down and get around the castle. I am not sure if that is the intended solution.
5- After killing Ketheric Thorm, Jaheria throws tantrum and leaves the party but she stays in the camp. There is Join me option, and she agrees but never joins.
6- Minsc is nowhere to be found in the sewers.
7- Rakath's Gold is not in the sewers.
8- Gather Your Allies quest is not ending.

Quest 1 , I am not sure I have done
QUest 2 , I finished it through Astarian
Quest 3 , it is finished once the person mentioned is saved from a certain specific location
Quest 4 , the entry is from the side from lower city
Quest 5 , not sure but you may have angered the character
Quest 6 , the character mentioned is found but you need to start 9 fingers quest
Quest 7 , same as quest 6, found in sewers , a specific character will have the keys and money on them during a certain fight
Quest 8 , it is an open quest but it did end to me in the final arc

Reading the comments here, the experience seems to be fairly polarized. I've encountered enough bugs for it to be a major annoyance. In my 16 hours of play (solely in act 1), I've noticed the following:

- Crashes to desktop have been rather common (around 8 - 12 times), and usually happen when loading a game, starting a combat or a cutscene. Verified the files the first few times, but it didn't seem to have an effect.

- Automatic combat pathing doesn't seem to work correctly. For example, if I hover mouse above an enemy to attack, the game tells me that my "character can't reach" them or it would move a weird route, but when I first move the character manually next to an enemy, it works just fine and I can attack from the position I moved in. The same thing can happen with jumps and other movement-related skills.

- The characters sometimes twitch when changing expressions during dialogue. The camera has also gone to weird locations/zoom-levels a few times.

- Some quest flags might not update correctly. This is hard to determine, since I'm not sure if I've missed something. Primary example being the quest where something is stolen from my party, and when I get to the thieves' hideout, I can't find my stuff even though the quest log indicates I should be able to. I also can't talk to their leader about it, even though it's kind of implied I could.

Comparing to Divinity: Original Sin 2, my experience with this game has been way buggier. But it seems this experience isn't shared by all, so your mileage may wary.

I wouldn't expect the game to change much. They might fix up some bugs, but that's about all it's going to get. Act 1 is in a good place. It's about 70% of the total game content.

Act2-3 probably were rushed and never tested in early access. That's what happens when early access revenue stream dries up.

What are you on about ?
Act 1 and Act 3 has similar durations ,
the scope of this game giving +100hours of content , it is normal to have a couple of bugs at launch but no bug I have seen is game breaking
Even Act 2 is not short neither.

Hyke, Larian has a "Fabulous Five" level of writing. I expect more a Vance, Le Guin,... We need professional writers for adults (> 25 y.o). Video games are not just a teen thing. And "for adults" doesn't mean "sex+violence" which are usually written with a teen spirit in video games (and like in BG3, sex feels like a joke more than the adult way to speak about it).

Mormacil, well, there isn't a lot of good writing in RPG globally, but Tyranny or Tides of Numenera are far superior to BG. There're plenty of defaults, but it is far more consistent on their approach about world building and character's psychology. Kingmaker was decent (while WotR is horrendous despite some good roleplay possibilities). Some streamers could be a good choice as there're plenty of better DM than Larian.

But when you have a clown like Vincke leading a company, you cannot expect something consistent from this company. This company has a good level to make awesome A-RPG, but for more mature and consistent content, they're not mature enough and I bet on "Vincke's the main problem of Larian".

I think it's finished and received a lot of polish and testing. They were still fixing bugs in DAO for 2 years and some bugs never got fixed. This game I would imagine is far more complicated. It doesn't matter the amount of staff they have working on it or the people testing it, the public will always find bugs in any bug free game.

The game is great, but I don't think there'd be any harm in waiting like a week or two for a few more hotfixes. There are some bugs and unintended combinations here and there that do hurt the gameplay a bit, and they should be buffed out soon.

But if you wanna play now as well and take it at your own pace, any of the more serious bugs should be patched well before you get to them. Just don't speedrun it.

The game is not finished. As the first reply stands, my feelings are the same. The camera is terrible! UI is garbage. Inventory management feels terrible. AI have so many bugs. The game actually does not respond to you playing it smart or in a way it was not intended and let me tell you, they have not planned for a lot of things.. If you follow the simple patch, its ok and can feel polished.

act 1 was amazing (because it was in EA for a few years) few bugs
act 2 feels railroaded and a bit buggier
act 3 as big and open as act 1 but really buggy and feels rushed tbh

i'll give it a month or two or maybe even half a year to do another run

also inventory management is absolute garbage as is the camera sometimes

Performance is bad.
Community is packed by fanboys telling you this game is the best video game every made. No, its not. Just overhyped by some fandboys without real life.
Especially on steam deck, game is basically not working.
Weirdly this is the entire opposite of my experience on all levels.
performance on my older desktop is flawless, running a mere 1660Ti on Ultra works amazing, near steady 60FPS.

Community/the steam forum seems mostly overrun with trolls ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ on the game. Fanboys are in the minority of me. Might be a timezone thing when I check the forums?

Overhyped, I dunno, 800.000+ concurrent players after release. Constantly hovering in the top 15 of most played steam games since release seems anything but hype. It's just a really really popular game it seems. At least going by the numbers.

Mine works pretty good on the steam deck, had to tweak some graphics but it sits pretty stable at 30FPS. It's of course a new game and the deck is aging hardware at this point so I don't expect it to pull steady 60FPS. But very playable to me.

Post a video and show me steady 30 fps in grymforge on steamdeck. Lets say abouz 30 min of gameplay? If you can prove that, i will never post anything here again.

To OP: if you have the money, buy it

@OP

No.

But there is a chance you are one of the unlucky few facing every and all bug there is remaining (for me it was a breeze so far - no performance problems in 4K UHD, no game breaking bugs (no game has no glitches)). That or those few raging threads are purely made up and exaggerated.

It wasn't rushed, since it was two years late.

Unfinished, though? Definitely yes, in the sense that there are things they are going to tweak in upcoming patches. Bugs of course, but also other things - there are some fights I would bet they'll revisit and retune. And a LOT of quests /goals are obtuse to the point of annoyance, so I would also bet they'll go through the game and clarify a lot of things.

But judging from the reviews and posts about it, I think 97% is about right. I mean, unless you're one of the outliers, you can definitely play the game all the way through, as intended by the developers.

Have you been using Vulkan or Direct X? And how hot is your computer running?
