Considering Buying
Seriously considering buying this game, I wasn’t tracking it but one of my colleagues said it was really good. The fact that it's good AND doesn't require all the usual stuff I avoid like the plague like passes and micro transactions etc. Just makes me want to buy it even more, and even more so because AAA developers hate it so much. Just wondering what other people's opinions are on the game.

They do a lot right in Baldur's Gate 3. There is a lot of freedom in the game where you have quests and obstacles that come with the quests and you can solve them in the most bizarre and elaborate ways possible. Like if there is a castle you need to gain entry to but the guards have blocked your way through the entrance you can literally grab 40 crates, stack them on top of one another and then climb your way onto the roof and same the damsel in distress that way. The fact that the developers allow you that much freedom and creativity is a sign of a great game with lots of replay value to it.

As for the "woke mess" stuff, I hate wokeness. It is there, in character creator they have non-binary options and you can mix and match body types of the player character. But if you don't choose it for yourself it is absent from the game as far as what I have seen of it. And all of your companions are romance-able and are essentially bisexual by default. They will all try to sleep with you if you get their approval high enough. It's harder to avoid romance than it is to romance the one character you want to get with, but it can be avoided if you just deny all the sexual advances that come your way.

But the core of the gameplay is incredibly well made and highly polished. Its fun, funny, exciting, challenging and enjoyable. It's probably one of the best game purchases you can make these days because what it says on the tin is what you get. It's just a good solid game.

I'm not buying it because I don't buy games that insist I have to be of a different sexual orientation and made to beleve that every other person, or NPC is also open to any type of sexual encounter. I don't care how good the game is to some people, to me I already know I will hate it, so I'll keep me money for another game.

wait a month if you can, then you will have your answer if its any good. At the moment no, if i had not bought EA I would not have bought it. far too buggy for my tastes.

That's my plan, somewhere in September, there should be at least a few Hotfixes and Patches by then and everything will be nice and optimized.

The game is great in my opinion. It might be worth waiting a month or two so bugs can be patched out. I'm 100+ hours in and thoroughly enjoying it. Already looking forward to another playthrough to see the different scenarios.

I am trying not to click on the purchase button but the temptation is borderline sadistic. I am just glad there is finally a non-Nintendo game that managed to knock Zelda off its high horse. Was getting rather depressing to just keep deferring to a single series over and over as the absolute (pun intended).

It's so fun. Best game for me since Skyrim at least.

It really is a great game. Every time I feel like it's going to get stale because it has already peaked, more interesting things happen, more interesting locations pop up, more interesting characters get involved, more interesting turns of events unfold.

The politics aside (yes I am a believer that there is some weirdness in this game, but I don't think it detracts from the experience if you're a mature adult), it's an incredible game and worth every penny.

The game is fantastic! I'm someone who only ever plays games on the easiest difficulty, I'm here for story alone. This game is hard, but it's so good that I don't care about the difficulty and I'm still willing to play it, that's how worthwhile this game is. I also fully believe in supporting games that don't have season passes, microtransactions, and all that other nonsense.

The time you needed to write that, would have been best spent in character creation. Go get it!

Nar, too wokey for my tastes.

Skyrim - lol ...

Sorry but Skyrim was an awful game with lots of flaws - but yes it was a 10/10 game since it had a huge modding community and you could turn it into the game you actually want.

Everything has a bit of Woke and LGBQ in it now, all depends how much it's thrown in your face. That stuff in this game is actually a joke compared to it in games like Gotham Knights. In that game most criminals looked like bull ♥♥♥♥♥. Couldn't even tell they were woman until you heard them talk. I Saw Npc's roaming around Gotham who had woman dressed like guys and guys wearings stockings over there daisy dukes. . At one point they even had the song living the vida loca during a ♥♥♥♥ boss battle. Which so happens to be done by Ricky Martin a guy who later came out as gay. Then to top it off even further they even have a damn Pride flag hanging over a arcade machine in the Belfry. Where your characters all chill until going back out to Gotham. Baulders gate 3 it's nothing like that, sure it's got a few things in there but really isn't that bad. When compared to the true Woke+LGBQ ♥♥♥♥ games.

Have any of you played BG1 or BG2? Should I play those first and wait for a sale on this?

No they are not related, really minor stuff that they have in common

Also they are dated compared to BG3 , they are 20 years old, BG3 story happens 100 years after.
What you should slightly from a 10 minutes video is the fall into avernus which is DnD lore.

Too old compare to this one, and no need to play these to enjoy BG3.

I recommend playing it at a friends house before making the buy decision.
