Hag hair item disappeared from inventory
Another hag hair thread but I didn't find anything similar on the net.
I successfully got the hair but never consumed it, the item just sat in a companion's inventory. Wanted to use it but it's just gone.
I'm in act 1, did mountain path and underdark

Same here, only found it in a save made 10 hours earlier. No idea where it might've gone.

I also had this bug & retraced to where I had it. Not sure if it's a bug or just bad inventory management but when the owlbear cub first shows up in camp, the food you give it turns out to be the hag hair.

It’s a dumb thing to not consume the item right away.

What’s the point keeping it, you can’t change it to a different stat so may as well use it right away

The owlbear egg disappeared on me the same way. Must have been eaten by the cub...

Post is sus. Who gets the hair and doesn't eat it right away? That's just bizarre to me.

To the people saying that there is no point in not eating it right away. You might not be sure that you need that buff in case you are thinking of changing class to a different main attribute one. If your attribute is even, there is no point in increasing it by only 1 point anyways so you might hold on with it for a while.

After Patch 2 I had a character's entire inventory disappear. Only thing that fixed it was rolling back to a previous save.

I'm indecisive

I had this happen to me.
As for the reason why not to eat it right away; it was my hope that this hair was one of the few ways to get a stat >20. So the plan (originally) was to use "Ability Increase" to get the main stat to 20 (the soft cap for that feat), then use that hair to get it to 21 (then whatever boost in Act III if any) to get it to 22.
If the hair also can't go past 20, then yes, this was a mistake.

Its the Owl cub. Your stupid character gives it to the cub the night it comes to the camp. it just grabs the first camp supply that is in the inventory, and because the hair is technically edible, it Tav just gives it to the cub. F----great. Discovered this 20 hours later. Now I don’t want to play the game anymore!

Years later, but maybe helpful to someone searching. Tonight I thought the hair fragment had vanished as well.

If you can't find the Auntie Ethyl's Hair item in your main characters inventory check the inventory of your other party members.

Playing through that tonight I defeated Ethyl early and had to finish off the minions after she left. What I didn't notice is that when the reward screen came up, the current selected character reverted back to the combat order after I won the roll for the hair - and put the reward in THAT party members inventory instead of the main player character.

Going back to that moment I discovered you can change the current character while the hag hair reward choice screen is up. So unless combat rotation just happens to be on your character - you have to select them to get the reward in your inventory or later take it out of the inventory of whatever party member the hair gets dumped into.

"Not" saying an item destroying bug doesn't exist, but this "might" save someone going back to do that fight over or missing out entirely on an honor run.
