Eldritch Knight just level to 7 but no Mirror Image spell

I just leveled to 7 and can choose various level 2 spells but Mirror Image wasn't one of the choices. Does anyone know if the spell selection;
1. Is random
2. Or, will I get to choose Mirror Image at a later level?
3. Or, they've just not made it available to EK (which would suck)?

Yes, it's not available to EKs. Sorc, Warlock, Wiz (and trickery cleric) only get it

I think mirror image is part of the expanded list. So you need to pick something else and next level replace it with mirror image. Yes it's wierd.

Eldritch Knights can only learn spells outside of the Abjuration or Evocation schools of magic at 3rd and 8th level in BG3 (and higher, but we don't get there). So, one more level before Mirror Image.

Eldritch Knight takes from the wizard spell list.

The issue is that EK is restricted to evocation and abjuration normally, on certain levels they get the full list to choose from. You should be able to choose Mirror Image at level 8.

Thanks for the answer. I wonder why they did that. Isn't it available in tabletop?

I guess I could multi class into 3 Wizard levels to get the full selection of level 2 spells.

On the tabletop, Eldritch Knight only gets Evocation and Abjuration as well, and only from the Wizard spell list, with only a couple of exceptions.

Is Mirror Image available to Eldritch Knight in the first place?
I thought they got a super gutted version of the wizard spell list.

It's for balance issues I guess, so that you can't pick all illusion spells and make a illusion tank.
Eldritch knight in previous version of dnd and like was a bit crazy in that department.

Just in case it helps someone else, I was given the chance to choose Mirror Image and Blur at level 8. Happy Eldritch Knight now. :)
