Baldur's Gate 3
Act 2 and 3 , what level should you be?
I went online and very confusing if you can stumble into Act 2 by mistake ..... I hope it option to finish ACT 2 before removing quest ? I feel like DOS2 and Pathfinder were very clear when you made the transitions with options to wait till finish- but reading online not so clear with BG3. I thought the whole map would be different for Act 1-3, like is for DOS2 or Pathfinder.... hope they are not calling act 2 and 3 the same main map with some extra locations. Every time I look up a map on Act2 or 3 it is still Act 1 map with a few extra places. So your fun in explorations is mostly done in Act 1 with a few other locations..... hope I am wrong in this?! A simple posting of maps of Act 1, 2 and 3 will clearly prove one way or the other. Does anyone have the maps of Act 2 at least, outside Act 1 map.... ? Thank you!

if youre too lowlevel when attempting to enter a new act the game will give you and additional warning aside from saying youre leaving to act 2
The 2nd map is a new zone, the 3rd map is also a new zone, both are sizable but act 2 feels shorter since it's more condensed compared to act 1. People may be confused cause leaving the first map is technically part of act 2, but you won't actually get there until you enter the proper map. The shadowlands
I completed the starting zone about level 5. I then went in and did the underdark and reached level 6. Then went to do the Githyanki zone and reached level 7. I am now Level 7 in the shadowlands and doing well.

I think level 6 would be fine in shadowlands, I think level 5 would be a bit difficult, though doable. Definitely not level 4.
I suspect Act 2 should be started at level 5, and ended at about level 8. I ended Act 2 at nearly level 9 (hit level 9 within minutes of entering Act 3), but I also did the majority of the content (not 100%, but I explored probably 90% and only skipped a couple of minor side-quests). You might be as high as nearly level 10 instead by Act 3 if you truly did everything, but that's a stretch for most players.

Difficulty-wise, you'll want to be at least level 5 in the Shadowlands when you get there - level 4 would be rough (though possible if you are careful). That's just for the opening section of the Shadowlands too, the second "half" (most of the content) you definitely should be above level 6 for.

The monastery map is act 1. The game does not give you the act 1 achievement until you go to the Shadowlands. So, no, technically it is not act 2.

Act 1 is the main map, the underdark and the monastery. I ended up @ 7 there.

After finishing act 2 I JUST hit 9 before I completed it.

Fair enough, I included it cause it warns you about entering the mountain pass, but on further introspection it might also do that if you try to enter the forge area of the underdark too.

When you say new zone, that sound like what I feared, no new maps at same scale, more like a DLC of main map.... in Pathfinder and DOS you got whole ACT 1 map size again and again for each level, sound like after the problem in ACT1 map (as I heard when making game ) resulting in them pulling back on how big the game would be.... ok thanks

I don't want a technical , legal loophole response, just trying to understand the scope of game. Let me make easy.... before I enter ACT 2 if you added up all the land mass above and below ground on you entire map, call that 100%. Is ACT 2 about the same land mass to explore or are we talking 50%, then hear ACT 3 is like a mini-DLC .... I am hearing ACT 2 &3 combined is still not as big as ACT 1 space .... if true, going to be very disappointed, hopenot true, since waited so long for this game.... Thank you
Well i was level 8 when i entered Act 2 and now im about half a way trough act 2 and just leveled up to level 10.... Have played 62 hours in total, and Act 1 alone took over 40 hours to me..

Side note....... I am very confused, the game asked me to enter act2, but I was not finish with some critical things, so said no, then went back to underdark area to get part of tree, etc. And then found out I left part of key to book -orb need to go in mouth - or accidentally sold it since didn't know what was. Can you come back to ACT 1 if leave? What do I do if sold the critical book key (I hope it prevents you from selling like other games do for critical mission objectives). Maybe I am in act 2 already in the underdark ... game not real clear on this. In DOS and Pathfinder, there are very clear boundaries and they warn you as wiped all previous quest, each ACT is new, with another large new map. I just don't want to be half way through act2 and hit wall because I did not do something , or bring key item forward.... I did read I need that lantern, thank goodness did not go to act 2 when prompted, would have been SOL from start.
5-6 for act 2 to start, should be 8-9 by the time you make it to Baldur's Gate in Act 3

Underdark is not act 2, and you won't lose access to act 1's map until you finish the 2nd half of act 2 (The game very clearly warns you when you hit that point trying to enter a specific area.)

Thanks for this, I am about level 8 1/2 and cleared most of Act 2 minus Moonrise Tower and Raphael's quest area I was really starting to worry that I was going to be max level and have another 40% of the game to play.
If you make it to act 2 before you're level 7-8, you probably skipped a ton of content.

This was what I was looking for. I just finished the Grymforge and beat the Golum (that was a hard fight!!!!) and that got me to level 6. So I'm good to go into the elevator?
