Charisma Classes are the most Common
The numbers indicate that Charisma based classes are currently more popular in this game. And this is likely due to the desire to succeed dialogue based rolls, however I'm probably underestimating the impact of class features on characters like the Paladin.

I rolled a Rogue but still put points into Charisma, if I hadn't created a Rogue it would have been a Warlock.

Any thoughts on the popularity of Charisma based classes?

1. Over half the casters use Cha. (Sorc, Lock, Bard, Paladin)
2. You have one Cha companion (Wyll).
3. You want to play as your character, so you do you most of the talking and don’t want to be bad at it.

Lore Bard, being able to pick extra proficiency and spells from other classes is just so damn useful

Yeah for some reason 5e loves charisma casters meanwhile there's only a single class who relies on int.

Likely people want their main character to be a main character, which usually requires them to be the face of the party.

Paladins are fairly powerful, and there is the appeal of playing an oathbreaker on top of that.

Well warlock, paladin and sorc work well together in multiclass. 2pal/10 warlock. 6pal6warlock ect.

My theory is its more to do with multiclassing than social rolls.

Im rolling a non charismatic githyanki druid. Ancestral knowledge + guidance + enhance abiliy works really well to pass a bunch of charisma checks wihout putting points into charisma. ^^

This is my logic as well, as whenever a cutscene happens and one of my companion becomes the main talker, due to my main was too far away. I immediately reload so that my character is the one talking.

Yep. It's a known thing for those experienced in 5e: DEX and CHA based classes are generally the best.

Which isn't to say other classes aren't viable or good... just that these have the most multi-classing flexibility.

I always get a -1 in dialogue because of my charisma being so low. I do have guidance, enhance ability and a feat that makes it able to roll two dice then take the highest roll. It has helped a lot in getting past a lot of the dialogue rolls.

Ok interesting, haven't delved into multi-classing yet, but that makes sense especially if one's main stat is aligned perfectly with the other classes primary stat.

Nah, definitely social rolls, and with Paladin being the most picked class, the fantasy of being the heroic and charismatic leader type is strong and ever present.

It's not immediately obvious to newcomers that you can do just fine without having Charisma as a prime ability score, either with stuff like Guidance and Enhance Ability. I've been quite easily talking my way through most situations with a 12 Cha Druid that has zero face skills besides Insight thanks to this.

i succeed all my dialog rolls so far with 8-8-8 in the dialog-related stats.

savescumming master over here ;) between consumables and the spell buff from shadowheart it's been working fine so far.

maybe i'll change my mind endgame but so far it seems like a waste of value to invest in dialog stats.

As long as you aren't save scumming with Karmic Dice active then I applaud you, if you are using Karmic Dice then I'm sorry for all that wasted time.

Inspiration is my save scumming, almost always had 4 to use
