Character creation screen coming up randomly in the middle of my game

This is now the second time I have had this issue. I'm 30+ hours into the game, and now every time I try to play, the character creation screen comes up in split-screen, for no reason. It will come up if I try to go to the character sheet, it will come up if I try to pick a dialogue choice, etc.

I'm using the controller UI, and this makes it completely unplayable, obviously. And my controller is controlling BOTH SIDES of the split screen.

Has anyone else seen this issue?

Im experiencing this right now too using controller, and idk how to stop it. Have you found a fix? Literally once I start pressing any buttons it brings up the character creation on split-screen

Yes, I have found a "fix" kinda. I haven't played the game the past couple of days so I'm not sure if it still works, but it seems like the issue is that the game is recognizing the controller as an extra controller when it's plugged in. I don't get the problem if I'm connected wirelessly.

Also, usually a reboot of the operating system works to fix it for me. Annoying but so far it's worked every time.

I suspect somehow the game recognizes the wireless connection and the wired connection as different controllers, and it thinks you're connecting a new controller for local couch play or something.

I ran into this exact same issue as soon as I booted up the game XD . Hoe did the get Divinity 1 and 2 right but screw this up so hard XD ?

It seems to trigger for me if I boot the game with a wireless controller, then later plug in that controller. I don't think I have encountered the problem on wireless at all, but I'm not sure. Also reboot of the operating system fixes it (even for a wired connection). Kind of a lame workaround/fix but it works for me.
