We need a more efficient way to swap and gear companions
I really like the camp system. It adds a lot to the adventuring party, it looks like... but it's kind of a pain to have to jump back and forth 27 times to keep grabbing the right companion for various quests, or to manage inventory.

More than eight times, I've found a new ring or gloves and thought "Oh, that would be perfect for X!" but having to go back and swap out and explain that I'm leaving these people in camp, equip the item, talk to the OTHER person to leave them in camp... it's just a tedious extra six steps.

I can see where this might be an intentional game design, to "force" players into focusing on a handful of companions rather than the traditional cRPG of just stringing everyone along. (The inspiration system is in this same vein.)

But even if it was a thing where we could manage everyone's inventory from the camp without having to swap them out... that would be very nice.

Hmm.

You can pick up pouches or Backpacks (Barrals, Crates, All sorts of Contaiers). The Heavy Containers, send to Camp (they will be in your Travellers Chest). I use a backpack on my Strongest Character and a Pouch. The Pouch contains sell items (Weapons on Strongest, Armor and other on 2nd Strongest). Into the Backpack go all the stuff I want to save.

When I get to camp, I off load the Camp Supplies into the Barrals (Food and Liquour, don't forget the Camp Supply packs, they heavy, Keep one of those), Books and Documents into Crate and then Gear goes into a backpack for anyone to use when I swap them in group.

If they aint going to be in group, they shouldn't need much.

I have serious OCD so you know, alter the plan to your tastes.

Oh, I do a lot of those things for general inventory/ weight management... I'm taking about having to switch party members in and out of the group just to test different setups.

for example, I recently got a new robe. And I wanted to see if it would work better for my existing Gale, or if I should respec Wyll to use robes rather than medium armor. Obviously the respec'ing would take some experimentation, but in order to compare them at all, I had to spend five minutes running all over camp looking for Lae'zel to ask her to leave the party, then back to Shadowheart to get HER out of the party, then to Wyll to add him, then to Gale to add him...

... at which point I realized that the only way the robe would have worked with Gale was if I also had the helmet that was equipped on Shadowheart. So I had to go BACK to Wyll to remove him to go back to Shadowheart to add her to remove the one item to then kick her out of the party to add Wyll back to finally test out whether or not it would work well with Gale...

At which point I remembered that I put Wyll's best rapier on the bard hireling. And thus started round three of party roulette.

If there was one screen where all the party's inventory could be managed at one-- for example, the exact same view as normal, but you could scroll through all characters rather than just the four in the immediate group-- it would alleviate a lot of this tedium.

And yes, this is the part where some one says, "Well, it's your fault for not remembering to unequip that item!"

And I respond, "Yes, I apologize for being ****ing mortal. I hope to one day be as perfect as you" and we all walk away slightly more embittered than before we logged onto the internet.

tl;dr
I would like some sort of way to access the whole party's inventory, even if they're not in the active group.

Yeah I would never remark on other peoples memory. Mine being on the downward spire of life. But I agree if they are going to force us to manage, they should give us the tools to do so.

Yeah it's terrible having to add people to the party in camp to see what they have and if you want to move it to someone else. Inventory in Larian games is always ♥♥♥♥, BG3 is no exception.

I don't recall this being a problem in their other games... in the D:OS games, you've only got four characters. Even with mods to add more, their inventories were easy to navigate.

TMK, all of Larian's games prior to those only had a single character. At least, Divinity and Divinity 2 were... I think there was another one in there before D:OS, but I could be wrong...
