It's Baldur's Gate 3 in name only. IT makes little sense to really compare it to games that came out over 20 years ago. The technology and game development process is just much different.

But for a lot of people, you're not going to have fun on the first 4 levels on the first playthrough. You either learn Larian's way of stacking odds against you and do the hokey hoop-jumping preparations for each battle, or you look everything up online and do the hokey hoop-jumping preparations for each battle. If you don't do that, you will save-scum and rant about how dumb the battles are set up, or you will give up.
