I got fairly decent initiative rolls on my encounter, only one enemy got an action in such a way that it'd allow a character to be pushed off, so I killed that one off first with the chars who got better roll.

But I imagine it might help just jumping your highest Dex / Ini character to start the convo, leaving rest behind, and then making them jump to you? Dunno if it'd actually work, but that'd certainly have been next thing I would've tried if I got the ol' yeetus treatment.

- If you have Shadowheart or a cleric, they can turn undead preventing the masses of skeletons from attacking and just making them run away.
- A high AC character can tank those skeletons for a long time so rush in there and keep them busy.
- You're on a very exposed plane of land, push the stronger skeletons off the ledge (balthasar included)
- Check for any consumables and scrolls you have, some buffing elixirs, maybe some holy water for AOE damage,
- You can revive your fallen allies by healing a single point of hp, with a bonus action such as healing word, or even throwing a potion at them

Can you still do that if you're just a hovering spirit/soul after being yeeted into the abyss? Never tried it myself but if so, then it's not QUITE as bad as all that :D

No, you can't do that if they're dead, so if the portrait is grey with a skull, then no, you have to use a revive scroll, which let's you pick where to revive the character, so you could try using this for positional advantage.
But if they're making death saves, it's all good.

Simple Trick really. Use a character with low strength to talk to him, and then when in cut scene use other character with highest strength, position yourself for a push, and push him off, fight is over before it started.

you can lock pick door, rush inside and let shadows and undead fight each other, then nuke remaining shadows with fireballs.

you can move/throw skeleton bodies in stealth to the ledge b4 the fight and they will spawn there. you knock them some them off with a spell after that. also you can stealth 3 party closer to mid for a better position.

I only won this fight because I pushed Baltazar and as many enemies I could over the cliff. I used scrolls, Karlach and these thunder arrows for it. I also mae potions before the fight, so the companions got thicker skin and took less damage.

You can do the fight as designed, or you can just shove him off and watch him get shadowfelled hilariously. I don't tend to shove him off, personally, for the loot.

This is a good point, i forgot about arrows! You can use those Arrows of Roaring Thunder arrows to do an AoE pushing effect, potentially knocking multiple opponents at once.

Any kind of mass CC or AoE damage will do the trick.

Take Gale and rework his spell list if necessary.
Just reload a save you have before entering the pool. Go meet him in his chamber at the shar temple and kill him there. He has way less minions and there’s no opportunity to be shoved off a cliff.
I used thunderwave to knock Balthazar off and made sure my people where in position to not get knocked off by th ebig guys,.

You can stealth your way to him with invisiblity and have two turns worth of damage on him.
