Omeluum Potion (spoilers)

I am trying to avoid any dips into tadpole powers. But successfully completing the "Omeluum Potion" quest gives you a "Survival Instinct" ability. I wonder if story and progression-wise, this is considered as if I unlocked powers through consuming tadpoles? For example, will the guardian react to these powers?
