Consequences of Last Light Inn massacre
Reached chapter 2 and met Jaheira. She discovered my parasite and tried to tickle me with entanglement spells which was quite rude of her. Things kinda got out of control and her entire crowd of jobbers got massacred:

So now my question is: how much story and quest content have I lost? Any noteworthy unique items on the merchants? I suspect this may interfere with recruiting Halsin and finishing Karlach's personal quest, but I don't know for sure.

In my play through I save scummed a bit a this part. Assuming you don’t kill everyone they will all die from either A) Isabel gets kidnapped causing the barrier to fall and then they all die to the shadow curse or B) shadow heart becomes a dark justiciar and when that happens the shadow spreads and becomes more powerful breaking isobels barrier and killing everyone. I think the only way to save everyone is to cure the shadow curse with halsin first and don’t help shadow heart but I helped halsin last so they All died on my play through (I did rob isobels corpse afterwards for a sweet mage robe and if you didn’t already save the prisoners in moonrise you locked yourself out of getting those red rarity items.

Not quite.
You can totally talk to Isobel, you just have to prevent her from kidnapping. You can then finish up the rest of the area and do the Nightsong last. That's pretty much the ideal outcome.

You are going to be ok, there are other paths.

Killing Jaheira does lock you out of some stuff later on though.

And THIS is why BG3 is so awesome.

Right here, in this one stop (in a game of hundreds or thousands or similar stops), look at the possible outcomes.

You can save or not save Isobel, pick up a major character as a companion or kill her (Jaheira), Cure the Shadow Curse or not.

You might save the Harpers of the Last Light Inn (if Isobel is not kidnapped and Shadowheart does one thing). You might kill the Harpers and Jaheira like the OP. The harpers might die in a battle by you (with Jaheira as an ally) after Isobel is kidnapped and they are infected with the curse.

Have one of your major companions either become a Dark Justiciar or not.

And with all of those outcomes, it is possible to go on and do the next phase of the game.

People do one thing and say the game is so rushed .. but right there are many possible parallel outcomes, some fast and some slow. Some one step, some several.

Oh, and it is absolutely in character for Jaheira to give you a truth serum. She has no idea who you are. You are just some adventurer coming into the Inn in the middle of the Shadow Curse. She has her own quest and worries. She has things she needs to figure out to help the Inn, get rid of the curse, etc. Nothing wrong with that writing. Nothing out of character about it at all.

Do you know if you can find/rescue Isobel if the kidnapping succeeds ?

I found Jaheira difficult to deal with in BG2 and I gave up on her after escaping from Irenicus' dungeon. Minsc was easy in comparison. Just don't do evil ♥♥♥♥ and he's as happy as a clam.

So I don't fault you for mashing her into paste. Just don't let Minsc see you do it.

Right now, I'm not finding that, Whatsherface got kidnapped, so all of the Harpers died. Did a whole bunch of stuff, went to the moonlight tower and there is literally 12-15 bad guys, a boss, and at least 3-4 clerics.

All of the guides I've read "oh this will be an easy fight because the Harpers will kill most of these.."

Well.. all my harpers are dead.

Soo. I guess I'm just ♥♥♥♥♥♥? What kind of game does that? I can not win that fight.

Dont do the nightsong yet because that Progress the fight to the Moonrise towers and ends every single quest you did not yet complete in Act 2, do all the quests you can before you do that one.

Nope you cannot rescue isobel but you will find her again at near the end of act 2 making the fight more harder then needed.

Glad I read this, I'm in the mausoleum right now. Still need to do the tiefling quest.

You can go on until you reach Shadowfell entrance (there will be a new portal near it so dont worry about going back there) that's exactly where you should stop and then do the rest of the side-quests in Act2, then go back to it and Progress the story.

In tactician the kidnapping feels railroaded. All the enemies have higher initiative than everyone but the highest dex characters and they prioritize isobel exclusively. If you make it to round two of that encounter it's thanks to some very bad RNG for the AI.

Your problem is reading guides instead of playing, the majority of them are half-baked at best and exist just to farm clicks. Moonrise is basically Goblic Camp on steroids, and just llike with goblins you can compartmentalize enemies here (probably easily done when entering the kitchen). Also fighting in the towers is way easier since you have a lot of bottlenecks here. Hunger of Hadar alone carried for me the whole Moonrise.

Ok but let's break this down to what's really important; If everyone dies you get a tonne of high quality loot, Including unique weapons and armour valued in the thousands as well as enough camp supplies to get you a few full rests. Whereas saving everyone, grants you more character progression, plot points and companions to varying extents.

But what is actually better in terms of NET value. A more powerful party, or more of that sweet, sweet story and dialogue?
This may sound like a sarcastic question, but I'm genuinely torn. Because I'm playing on the highest difficulty, the only way to get the result I want, is to get my party killed in their next battle without having saved and replay out all of those dialogues for the 4th time.
