I tried this many many times in EA to stop the hag but it seems to just be scripted that the hag either dies in one turn, or gets away. I even tried using Darkness so that she couldn't see the girl but it didnt matter.
Just do it the way its meant to be done, her little cave of horrors is pretty cool tbh. Save often tho.
And then on top of that if you just go through it and reach the "end" of the quest with her saying she's going to take her husband back home after grieving the quest isn't finished and for some ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ reason the idiot behind the quest's planning decided to then force you to do the stupid wand ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ that just antagonizes or endangers her further in literally any option that you choose.
Her quest was always the most bugged in EA for me, and even if it wasn't bugged it's still as stupid in it's conclusion than the guy sitting and crying in the Waukeen's rest for the two weeks it's been burning because apparently I didn't complete the ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ quest by saving him, OF COURSE you need to steal the dowry to complete it! Duh! It only makes sense that the side quest isn't completed until you do THAT!
Whoever was in charge of half of the side-quests in this game got paid 100% more than they ever should have.
BUT: she does not beg for mercy when under 10hp. So no Chance to get the stat increase.
But killiing her upside ist the only way to not kill the masks downstairs: even if you manage to sneak around them, they will be teleported to the fight. And even if you manage to bring her down without killing the masks, they stay enemys an the fight continues. (An a heay bug if the talking starts while they are still alive.
Yeah, I've been considering this too, its just I thought it would be the "best" outcome to just kill her now and then, so she couldn't hurt the girl, I heard she can die, if it makes no diff I'm not sure why they made it a fight, could just have made it a cinematic. I felt maybe it would be the "best outcome", since the game is heavy on choice and all.
