Whoever wrote Lae'zel needs a raise.
They wanted to capture just how alien Githyanki are to human society and Lae'zel's dialogue really captures this to a T even though she gets annoyingly douchy at many moments. I think the dialogue that really made me realize how bizarrely detached from human concepts is when Lae'zel thinks saying "You scent makes my neck sweat" is romantic in some fashion.

The eyeroll when you tease her about "Teeth-ling" got me good the first time I saw it.

Yeeeeees. Everything about her is so alien and strange. They really nailed the concept of extraplanar cultures.

I even like how if you respond to her constant insults with insults of your own, she respects it. It's a neat little touch that shows that she doesn't perceive what's being said as a problem at all. She genuinely thinks this is normal behavior.

She comes across as just another warrior princess archetype. She's just a drow but with extra steps.

You gotta get further in the game then man, Lae'zel is incredibly fragile, she's not a "warrior princess" so much as she is the lowest of the low in Gith society.

Lae is also rather possessive if you're dating her

the staple of such writing for d&d would be Dak'kon in Planescape: Torment. Guess they took inspiration as Lae'Zel is pretty well written :) she acts like I'd imagine giths would from Dak'Kon description of that race :P

Or if you're not. If you romance Shadowheart when you have high affinity with Lae'zel she basically tells you that you have ♥♥♥♥ taste in women.

I must say all characters are pretty well written, but indeed that gal has some talent writing behind.

Dak was a githzerai, Lae is a githyanki

She's good. I think all the characters are.

One thing that struck me that didn't feel great about her character progression for me though was how quickly she (late game spoiler) was able to go from being a Vlakith die-hard to Orpheus supporter. Like for me at least, she never showed much doubt or anything before and then it feels like she just flips a switch and suddenly is all team Orpheus. I guess it kind of makes sense though given the mind-sharing. But you would think she'd have more of a difficult transition.

You might have missed some stuff with her, as early as Act 1 she can become rapidly disillusioned with Vlakith and the way the other Gith act around her. In particular if you've treated her well and become friends with her and then she starts to notice how you, as strange alien beings from her perspective, are treating her with more honor and respect then her own people ever have.

What are you talking about? In what world is she a princess? She gets treated like ♥♥♥♥ by everyone, especially her fellow githyanki.
