Yup.
He doesnt view you as a threat, the entire thing hes doing is just a means to an end. He's still confident he's going to succeed, and, if he doesnt, then it was out of his control from the start to which he puts it on his God to see him through it. Thats how a lot of religious types are. If you can't do it yourself, God will do it for you. If you go through life like that, you wont have that many concerns and you'll always be pretty confident in any situation when you have that invisible ace up the sleeve.
Except in this game he actually does have God on his side, so, yeah maybe he has every reason to be confident.
