I wish Steam allowed perma banning so we can end the anti-LGBT spam. You can cry about free speech but Steam isn't USA and is a private entity. The spamming is making the discussion impossible to ask questions etc

What is more frustrating is the misinformation. None of the male characters just throw themselves at you (Asterion being the exception ish, since he's playing the flirtatious vampire trope). But unless you click the very obvious romance options (and they are obvious if you have basic social skills) then nothing gay is forced onto you. Hell, people keep mentioning the Gale lesson, even that had obvious dialogue that leads to romance or not

TL;DR stop spamming the discussion with your blatant issues that people rightfully disregard and return to your unwanted echo chambers

Steam really needs an automod that autodeletes thread OPs with certain terms in them, and anyone with actual genuine real sincere intent to discuss those topics needs to PM what they want to say to a mod and get it specially approved.

unfortunately they operate in the USA and have to abide by the laws. for forums which gives them two options. Either have mostly unmoderated forums with basic rules which they cant be held responsible for or. they have to be as a company responsible for every single thing posted making them liable for it.

This is also the case over in the subs for the Paradox games. Every content release or patch provokes dozens of threads about Paradox being a ♥♥♥♥♥♥ company. It's unbearable, like everyone lost self-restraint and respect.

Agree on most but this idea that the criticisms aren't valid is an obvious omission. Several male characters do in fact throw themselves at you and in fairness at least one female character.

What's more is that the player is led to believing that when they are just trying to garner a positive relationship through the approval system using dialogue from the players part that is in no way sexual or flirtatious in nature they still have to deal with advances.

The player is led to believe it will create friendship and comeraderie among the team. What many are NOT looking for is to then be hit on by any of the characters they weren't actively pursuing let alone uncomfortable situations where the persons gender is not what they are interested in at all or even taking gender out of it that the person is simply not someone they wanted to have that kind of relationship with at all.

Yup. Battletech was complaining about pronouns and most of the NPCs being people of color.

The Pathfinder game forums were too often rife with racism and sexism.

There's an indie game I own which has all female characters, and every so often someone would come in and complain it was "sexist" and start a row.

Etc. Etc.

And all of this fairly recent, as it used to be you avoided the FPS and broshooter crowd but otherwise it usually wasn't too hard to find decent gaming communities.

You're pretty wrong. These "political" topics were always in our games, only persons like Trump and other agitators made it so that hatespeech is now more tolerated in the general public.

I honestly disagree that "most gamers" are horrible people, as this is a modern problem that didn't exist to this degree back in the day.

It's more that gaming has become more mainstream, and while that means you get more of the good people in wider society, it also means you get more of the bad people in wider society.

They don't though they're free to ban anyone for whatever reason they like thus the ToS. The problem is that the current system doesn't work, giving mods the power to perma ban individuals on set discussions would prevent the ridiculous spam that is rendering the platform inaccessible
