Hi everyone!
Is it possible not to fight with Ansur? When i come - he talk with the Emperor and then attack me with no other options.

I'm wondering the same thing. I expected to deal with him peacefully to help defend baldur's gate.

I tried all available dialog options with my play through and I believe you have to fight if the Emporer is around. I'm curious if killing the Emperor or rescuing Orpheus makes a difference.

no, if you go there. then the fight has to take place.

i literally just went in there, walked around him, took the helmet and left. i didnt interact with the corpse and no fight was triggered. is this a bug?

The fight is inevitable because you weren't forewarned about the situation down there.

What you're told by Ex-Archduke Ravenguard (i.e. that Ansur is waiting down there for Baldur's Gate to need his aid because he agreed to it once and nobody ever sought it) is not consistent with the reality of the situation (i.e. that you have Illithid Balduran in an artifact on your person, that Ansur tried to mercy-kill Balduran, got killed in self-defense, and you are going to visit him along with the monster that killed him).

you can take the helmet, it is not a bug. I always took it before the fight which starts after you interact with him.

Oh I'm sorry, you thought this was a roleplaying game? No, no, no, silly, Larian tells you what your character should do, you should feel humbled that they even let you play their masterpiece story.

On a serious note, no, it sucks this game doesn't actually let you do what you want nearly as much as you'd think it would.

In this instance, Ansur cannot be talked out of a fight.

No. Dialogue choices don't matter.

Yes, it's a roleplaying game, with characters that have their own thoughts and opinions. It's not a sandbox game, where you can do whatever you want and everyone else - if there even are any NPCs - is a mindless zombie.
