Can't progress past start of act III
Not the game's fault per-say since I've been just skimming through the story/dialog (although I do find a LOT of it corny and over dramatic) but I just got to Act III in that first camp after you travel to Baldur's Gate. Once I rest we get ambushed and towards the very end of the fight the Brain shows up and it says we succumbed and basically get a game over menu.

Not sure what I did wrong here, and I do have some previous saves. I've not used any illithid powers, haven't consumed any worms, and I did about 90% of all the side content in the previous acts.

Any idea how to get past this?

You are meant to go into the portal that opens up in your camp as quickly as you can. You should be able to hear the Dream Visitor calling out to you begging you to enter the Astral Prism.
