What are the worst classes?
What are the least useful classes that are so bad compared to the others that theres no point in trying them? So far rogue seems like the worst one ive seen with its only use being lockpicking

This isn't the tabletop. I don't doubt the zeitgeist will produce a tierlist, but no class is woefully ineffective. Even your example of rogue can be a beast (AT has spells, Thief gets T W O bonus actions which make them great for perma-poison, and Assassin is the epitome of cheesing stealth), but it depends on how you're using them and what your party is.

Larian has said specifically that all classes/builds are capable of finishing the game.

Monk has been pretty terrible until level 5 where it starts to pickup steam due to the additional attack, but at this point other classes do to so it's still fairly underwhelming

A Rogue does twice as much as a Monk from level 1, you can practically do everything a Monk does, twice per turn, and without having to split hair on a silly Ki resource

All of the classes are very useful. Some are more useful than others, like rogues. Sorry you seem to think rogues are the worst.

All of them are good, not worst, but power playing level are not same, more or less. Fighter are good at tanking and melee but very vulnerable magic, trap, so go on, thief can get in and out sneaking, can pass trap and locked, but not that great vs magic/more powerful melee or bow, Wizard can handle it magic much better than fighter do, and had ability to do magic more stronger than fighter or thief do, but very vulnerable to melee or range if no magic come up and level key as well, it's well know that fighter are great in early level while wizard are great at high level, beyond 12 level (sadly, this is where game stop level 12, wizard is much more powerful beyond that 12 level, unfortunately, player can't get wizard pass this level due there is ton of spell like time stop, wish, and all other crazy powerful magic that wizard can cast.

I'm not sure there's a "worst" class right now, they all have some use in the right situation.

Bards are probably bad overall, but they also can be built in ways that are extremely useful.

Sorcerers are bad if you don't know how to use them right - overpowered if you do.

Monks (my current class) are a bit squishy and tricky to play compared to other classes, but are so incredibly fast that you can basically zoom around the battlefield knocking enemies off cliffs and stunning them left and right. They have less damage than a Barbarian and less tanking potential than a Fighter or Paladin or such, but make up for it in pure speed and fun.

Rogues aren't weak - their sneak attacks can be used pretty constantly in team fights, and if you use stealth properly (including spells like invisibility, staying in darkness, etc) you can rack up massive damage with them. They also have good utility in helping deal with traps and the like.

Warlocks are very strong once your Eldritch Blast gets enough upgrades.

Druids have always been strong in D&D and are also strong here.

Wizards are very strong if you manage their spell slots properly, glass cannons as they are.

Clerics are very good at support and can survive quite a lot.

Fighters and barbarians are both incredibly strong in melee with their action surge or rage, but do need a bit of help dealing with crowds.

All in all, I can't say for sure which class is the "Worst," but I would put Bard at the bottom just because they are more about buffing (which can be very strong, but requires good party composition), and the rest above that in the middle except for barbarians which can actually be completely busted with tavern brawler right now based on my understanding, or paladins which are extremely powerful when properly built.

Rogues are far slower than Monks, so they can't even reach anyone to attack in melee without using dash or other movement skills more often. Rogues can't do things like deflect missiles, or flurry of blows kick enemies off ledges, or stun punch one enemy and then jump up a hill and run 20+ meters to roundhouse kick another one.

Rogues have more damage potential early on, but with flurry of blows and the like Monks can keep up a bit more later on. Monks also do better in a straight-up fight and are good for running around beating up whoever is vulnerable - rogues need to be a bit more careful about their positioning to get the most use.

This is only because there is no swashbuckler subclass

Game is not that hard and all classes are actually very strong for the content presented, if you use their features correctly.
So choose the one you want to role play as.

Also rogue worst one?
I'm in middle of act1 on Tactician with Solo Assasin, I would say when played correctly it's a very potent class. You are not really a fighter as a rogue use stealth and sneak attack.
aramintai Aug 11, 2023 @ 6:34am
They all have their uses. Rogues are very useful out of combat, which you'll be spending a lot of time in. You'll miss out on a ton of stuff if you simply try to brute force everything.
If you don't like them so much multiclass them with Gloomstalker ranger or with fighter.

Someone didn't find the "Cunning Action: Hide" button yet.

BG3 is good about not forcing a lot of combat, so there's lots of room for social and skullduggery related skills to be quite useful as well, which makes it hard to say any class is bad.
I think Fighters are certainly more useful early on than a lot of other classes just because you start SO weak in 5e, and Fighters are one of the few options that can make combat pretty straight forward. But by level 5, I don't know that I could pick a "worst" class.

Not with Dash on an additional Bonus Action they're not

To achieve the same mobility, Monks need to spend their only bonus action, and limited Ki

All classes are fine in terms of overall power.

Bard and Paladin are at the top
Druid I think is at the bottom
