If you have martial weapon mastery you have all the weapons.
Waapon master is for rogue or caster that want to wield a new weapon type.
Pretty much that. You already have proficiency in all weapons, so picking up weaponmaster can not grant it to you again.
There is a thing called "Expertise" or sometimes referred to as "Double Proficiency" but I dont think there are feats granting that for weapons in the game.
Edit:
I'd say it's almost uniquely something you pick on a Cleric.
Clerics, at least the ones that are not War/Tempest/Light (I think) have only simple weapon proficency, but most simple weapons just straight up suck, so you might want Longsword, Warhammer, or something else that actually does a thing.
On Rogues it's only viable to get Rapier proficiency, because it's the best melee finesse weapon, or Heavy Crossbow for the best ranged Weapon.
On casters it's pretty much worthless because as a caster you will most likely lack the attribute needed to make use of a weapon. It might be interesting for Rapier again, because you can be usefull in melee, and still invest in dex for AC/Initiative, but that's a big edge-case.
I dont have strength, because I dumped it for WIS/INT/CHA
So even though I have proficency in Short, long and Greatswords, I am barely gonna use them.
Where Warlocks are concerned, you get free proficiency for your pact weapon anyway, and Wizards have the same problem as sorcs, strength doesnt help them in any way, so it's mostly dumped, leaving only Shortsword/Rapier as interesting options.
I also keep forgetting scimitar. That might be used too.
