You might need to raise the platform back to the top before it will allow you to make a second attempt.
You can reuse a mould twice. For example you can make TWO Medium Scale Mail armors even though you only have one mould for it. This is because the moulds are reusable. That means after you create and pick up your first item, the mould you used to create it is still in there.
**So, you must eject the mould after picking up the item.** Then, you can reinsert it and another ore if you want to make the same thing again, or you can choose something different, I picked the longsword.
Be sure to turn the lava valve again after putting the mould and ore in. Then finally, use the forge lever. They really do not make it very clear at all, it's confusing lol.
(Additionally, to get the platform to raise when you want to leave, there is a button you have to press on a pipe by the forge lever. That also took me forever to find lol.) Good luck!
How? Where's the 3rd piece of Mithril?
I know one was deep in this place where you had to have enhanced jump and featherfall to get to, not far from the anvil itself. I just remember them being limited by the molds we acquired moreso than adamantine. I'll ask them and reply back when I know.
But if anyone is wondering, don't bother with forging weapons. The special ability is really pants.
Go with armour, although soon after the underdark you'll find better armour anyway just lying on corpses.
Seems rather epic at the end of act 1, but as soon as you are in act 2 (or 1.5), you'll be finding much better stuff anyway.
Remember, the cool critical perk with the weapons only works on *objects* i.e. 'sturdy' items like doors, crumbling walls, etc. That critical property does nothing in general combat. So the very first vanilla +2 version of that weapon you find in Act II outclasses it.
So always get the heavy armor, IMHO. That armor is great until Act III and you usually have 3-4 party members who need heavy armor -- so it's not like when you find something better this adamatine stuff will get pitched.
The adamantine shield is pretty good as well, but there are a ton of good shields starting in Act II. I'd skip it.
