Tarnished Locket, rings, charm... possible elden ring easter egg puzzle?
So, there a number of these tarnished items that can be found:
* tarnished ring - act1.5 and act3
* tarnished locket - act1
* tarnished charm - act1, act2

I have sold them as I went along because they have the look of a normal item. Has anyone been able to keep them to see what happens if all are equipped?

Are there any more tarnished items?

I know "tarnished" is a general term, but I've also seen someone mention that Shadowheart says something about an erdtree (might have been a troll here on the forums though)

tar·nish
verb
past tense: tarnished; past participle: tarnished
lose or cause to lose luster, especially as a result of exposure to air or moisture.
"silver tarnishes too easily"
tarnished just means they have too much patina or rust, typical of metal objects.... in games pretty much just means they are trash items

And they also make it clear that they are special items. Like why does this common ring that is worth 20g requiring a perception check in act 3? There is something about these items. I didn't even think about an Elden Ring easter egg. Same with the minds. Still haven't figured those out.

Leftovers from cut content maybe? That's likely why the staff of crones is still a quest item also.

it's a bug. there is supposed to be someone nearby that is looking for a ring, but they don't always appear in the guildhall base. really. there is NOTHING about these "items".

The minds in jars, otoh, DO have a use in the mindflayer colony. there is a magic head that can read what is in the minds in the jars and tell you what they are thinking. one mind even gives you an advantage to int saves if you fulfill their wishes.

yes and no. the tarnished ring in the guildhall does have a quest associated with it, but you are correct about the hag staff, that was cut content. there is supposed to be an entire questline involving the hags throughout the game.

The minds are used in a mind-upload machine, in the ghaik colony, underneath Moonrise Tower
You can listen to them speak their stories

Even minds from the Nautiloid at start of game, you can bring all the way there to listen to
