2 supports in your party?
Playing as a druid myself but shadowheart seems interesting and id like to use her. Is having 2 support esc casters together going to hurt me in the long run?

You can respec her to an offensive focused Cleric.
If you want to use a particular party member but your party balance would be a bit off, consider multiclassing them. Shadowheart makes a half-decent monk.

Haven't played a druid in 5e ruleset but in older d&d games they also had decent offensive spells. So your character can also be the wizard of the group, basically.
Not really , in fact you can turn your druid in healing support who also control enemies by terrain skills and other stuff and use shadowhearth as also healer but secondary guiding skills or mass area damage skills , this is really solid strat , not gonna say lot but i have gale who used and still use fat area effect of 1 level and web of 2 level and shadowhearth use guiding light and healing , so if you just make it work it will be solid , there almost no useless of hurting strategies

Wouldn't that might ruin background story of those npc follower? Someone said in video it's might mess up their dialogue if you change class or whatever that is.

No, it isn't a problem at all. In fact, it is commonly recommended to have 2 support character. Support type characters could be healing, buffing, debuffing enemies, or crowd control. Also druids can be blaster spell caster, or fight in melee. So you got a lot of options.

I was thinking of going more wildshape focused and then just taking 100% utility Druid spells. Letting shadowheart going more classic combat cleric. But i wasnt sure how effective wildshape is as a main focus. Also opens up a ranger, rouge or wizard slot in my party

You shouldn't think too much about "group balance". While it does have a place for consideration, the game and classes are way more about what you do with them than what you should not do. You can even run a group with 3 wizards and 1 warlock for "tank" and easily nuke everything in sight in 1-2 turns out of invisibility/stealth, if you don't mind long resting frequently. Or even go full melee with Barb, Pala, dual wield Ranger and Warrior just jumping around and bashing everyones heads in.

So yeah, 2 "supports" is unproblematic and viable. Both Clerics and Druids also have a lot of dmg options to play around, so you won't find yourself wanting on that part either.

Your first mistake was assuming druids can't be anything else than supports, it's one of the best at controlling the battlefield and can deal surprising amount of damages when used well. It can also be pretty good when fighting in melee.

I would say, the one thing BG3 does that is different from most of the other d&d type games, is that they went to a lot of effort to try to make everything feel useful. So most builds are going to be useful.

If you want to "optimise" it: Give Shadowheart either Life or Light domain as sub-class. Druids can't cast while wildshaped and functions mostly as a tank, so you maybe want to focus the Cleric more on either dmg or heal depending on the domain. All domains have their uses, but those 2 give you hard, specialised, easy to use numbers to work with.

Since both cleric and druid have a very high offensive potential, this is no problem at all, I would only re-skill shadowheart to storm, and with your druid you can use the animal stall more often.
Both classes have very strong damage spells.
