Recommended Barbarian Subclass?
in ea there wasnt any frenzy strain like there is now and im unsure how badly that effects beserker and was wondering if one of the other options are better in the long run? planned on possibly multiclassing into champion for the crit chance

The better off so far is primal barb with wolf aspect, with that you can give your companion advantage on melee attack
Fighter is most obvious one , but it seems that due to some specific traits of barbarian it doesnt mix that well with other classes.

You dont have to constantly use frenzied strike if you cant end the encounter quickly, use alternative attacks and use frenzied strike if you want to burst something down. Enraged throw is amazing especially with tavern brawler for instance.

The other subclasses sacrifice a bit of damage for other benefits, none of them are poor choices.

My main character is a "Wildheart" Barbarian, with affinity to Bear. That's turned out to be useful, as after about um... 2nd or 3rd level (from rough memory) it doubled his weight carry limit. Currently at 440 (with 19 STR), which is very useful.

I can only think of Fighter for Action Surge.

Dipping into Ranger appears also to be interesting on paper, but I have yet to try it.

Going Wildheart Bear is very nice, you get damage resistance to almost all damage which makes diving in a lot less risky.
I've had A LOT of fun with Bezerker however, using improvised melee as a bonus action to smack one Goblin with a different Goblin, and generally throwing enemies about.

I'm playing a Wild Magic Barb this playthrough with 3 levels in Champion. It's super fun but it's definitely worse than the other subclasses as at level 10 that I currently am some of the Rages have already fallen off and some of the rest don't alleviate the Barb issue of having nothing to use their Bonus Action on effectively. Don't get me wrong, it's enjoyable and still effective, at least in Balanced, but it's also not a powerhouse if you're into min maxing.

I multiclassed as Barbarian/Sorcerer and picked Wild Magic for both. Seemed thematically appropriate, and I'm enjoying the random magical effects every time i cast a spell/rage.
