Happened to somebody else saying this about Mirkon (if you managed to save the groove before saving him)
I knew i took the right approach of never resting:D I literally rested first before i went towards the Monastery...and then i was forced to do it twice to be allowed to progress:D
leaving the forge progresses this and they have left when you return.
you can long rest there fine (i tried it earlier with an old save) just don't leave the forge.
The background story is like: Nero was sent there to find an artifact but he got trapped and the way to the artrifact was destroyed anyway (you get there in act 2) and some of the dwarfs hated Nero for not paying them on time and killed him. If you stay there you can convince the rebels to help you in the fight against him. So most likely they dug Nero out, rebels killed him and left with gnomes as slaves.
In short if you don't want to miss out:
- arrive in Grimforge
- kill the floating eye and find the runepowder bomb from the hidden gnome
- convince rebels to help you
- blew up rubble and fight Nero
-> you only need to fight a group of slimes and the endboss and that's easily doable with one long rest on top of it
Ahh, this all makes sense. Thanks. Maybe I'll get to that on my next play through.
I think I remember hearing them say he was running out of time, but it's not always clear in games if you actually have time or not. Like with the tadpole, in EA I took as few long rests as possible fearing I'd turn into a mindflayer, eventually after being forced to take several and not turning I was like "heh, everything is fine I guess"
