There are game pauses while it loads new assets, so it's the hard disk that's the bottle neck; given BG3 is essentially turn based, it's no issue for playing.

Only issues I get are dropped frames on the 2nd screen when I watch a 4k video while in certain areas in BG3, but the game doesn't suffer an noticeable performance loss.
