RESTART your computer as the last step.
To re-register all dll files, from a CMD prompt with elevated permissions:-
for %1 in (*.dll) do regsvr32 /s %1
These steps may pick up errors and will fix them. This procedure has fixed games not working correctly for me in the past.
I also have a huge stutter when throwing random stuff from my inventory at enemies in combat. Maybe not related but the only other time I notived any stuttering at all.
And from trying a little with the controller interface I am amazed. It looks great and intuitive. Wow. Gotta try it out.
I actually was about to post just now and you posted the solution before me: I figured it out, folks!
It's so dumb, but also makes perfect sense: it's the amount of radials your character has. I'd been foolishly testing this with my packrat main character with his whopping 14 radial wheels worth of tricks and trash.
Swapping to another character with just 3 rings and it's a very tiny hitch you can barely notice.
I'm a bit concerned by how bad it gets the more rings you have (especially since you seem capable of holding hundreds of items) but at least I figured it out! Also explains why others aren't seeing the same: probably aren't pack rats!
And yeah, it plays great with a controller. It's a bit awkward with some things but not as bad as you might expect. I still pop over to the mouse every once in a while if the camera acts strange for targeting something far above or below, but normally controller only is fine.
Thanks for the information, but I more mean when there's bizarre terrain and the camera doesn't want to play nice, so you nudge it an inch to the left and it skyrockets 3 floors above. Doesn't happen often, but it does once in a while. Would really like a way to use a detached cursor on gamepad for occasions like this, since selecting things ALWAYS moves the camera, unless I've missed something.
(You can also hold down the A button to search nearby containers and enemies, bringing up a list, but the range is limited so it's not always useful in the specific scenario I mean.)
Edit: Also, not sure if you know this or not, but you can also use the Dpad to switch between targeted objects like chests and items that may be lying around.
No no, I mean detach the cursor from the camera, so that I can move them separately, like you would a mouse cursor. When I click in the left stick it detaches from my character, but the camera follows, making it annoying if something in a tricky spot, outside of the A search range and doesn't show up on the "show lootable items" button, which a lot of stuff doesn't for some reason?
So glad I found this thread, was having the same issue as you, they really need to patch this, having stutter due to a larger radial menu is stupid.
I think it has something to do with one of the graphic options, the one that uses AI to upscale and such. Try turning that off and see if it still happens.
