just lol that you guys haven't figured out THE WAY to forge your equipment yet, while I'm running around with my bronze, copper, and gold infused phalar aluve+6.

How and where? Are you sure that wasn't for a scrapped aspect of the game? I've encountered no way of upgrading weapons and armour, which I was expecting there to be because there's fecking grindstone wheels everywhere, even in camp. And also forges/bellows. But other than the one you use to complete the "Masterwork weapon" (ie, the Sussur weapon) and obviously the Adamantine Forge, none of them do anything as far as I've been able to find out. You can't even interact with most of them, except to blow bellows, and the one grindstone wheel in the Goblin camp that does have a "Use" button, which clicking did absolutely nothing for me.

And then there's the very specific "Combine" things like the broken spear bits and the various "Icy" bits, but they are all named pieces, not using ingots or any blacksmithing tools.

So if you've come across an actual example of ingots being used to upgrade equipment - or indeed any ability to upgrade equipment - I'd genuinely really love to know how!

I know there was another game I played where scavenged metal, blacksmithing equipment and your weapon resulted in a +1 or something - and definitely one where you needed to use the grinding wheels to sharpen your weapons because they blunted and dulled after a certain amount of use - but can't remember if that was Divinity Original Sin (the only other Larian game I've played) or something like The Witcher.

that was witcher

but DoS 2 had a crafting system where you can combine random stuff
for example, you can combine nails to boots to make the boots grant immune to slipping on ice, or you can combine arrow heads with wood sticks to create arrows etc

About ingots & etc, there is a craft interface available with Cheat Trainers.

i think Larian is keeping that for a future ADD-ON :)

When you already see that story can be directed by many ways :) for now im nice paladin but later i think i'll help Ketheric to be in "evil" side :) :) gnihihihi.
When i saw that Mintara is playable :) so many possibilities only with story.

Well, I using ingots and other heavy things as a ammo for throws/spells. Same as common weapons.. My favourite move is throw greataxe to someone's face :)

How can ingots be used for upgrades? Please/Thanks

Infernal Iron has a usage. (Help Karlach, make Lesser Helldusk Armor, either requires your friendly local hellsmith, Dammon).

Mithril ore has a usage (Adamantite Forge).

All the other ingots have no in-game purpose except vendoring. There may have been an additional crafting system Larian was planning; if so, it got scrapped.

Damn. Here I thought they would actually make a use for rope, at least.

Right? But no, you have to jump down and take damage and go prone, even tho you have hundreds of feet of rope on you (like the very first D&D Players Manual suggests on page 1).

The amount of useless stuff in this game is baffling. Esp the stuff that sounds like it could be useful - and has been in much older games. Mortar & pestle, ingots of brass, incense, quill & ink, quill, ink, empty potion bottle, rags... And then someone thought that adding pot lids was a good idea. And piles of dirty towels. And 3 or 4 different "Bottles", for some reason. None of which are useful in any way, and aren't worth a damn to sell. Just random weight to be sorted thru, when you could be playing the game.

In the first DOS game, you could put your weapon on a grinding wheel (even a hammer, for some reason) and it would give you a temporary hit/damage bonus (like a +1 in D&D terms). You could put metal weapons in a forge and get ingots of iron, and you could smelt steel and make steel weapons. I think you could bash on your armor on the anvil and get an upgrade, tho possibly temporarily. This is all contingent on your Crafting skill. Makes it weird that there are grinding wheels and anvils all over this game.

In DOS2, if you combined a knife with a pumpkin, you got a jack-o-lantern helmet that would give you a chance to frighten enemies, but limited your perception.
