trying to kill the hag but the face masks kills me

this is the most stupid quest ive ever played in a video game.. so to get through that wood door i need to put on a mask, but that mask makes my own caracter turn on me and kill everyone.

Just a helpful hint. The Hag is fay hence the spell Protection from Evil and Good will protect you from the effects of the mask. Cast it on each character and equip mask and boom you can walk right pass them. Granted they will appear in the final room with the hag if you do this.

didn't work for me.
passed all the checks (did it on multiple characters) and wouldn't let me through
put on a mask and it let me walk to the dark space on the other side of the door right away.

could be a bug

The mask effect is removed when the hag is dead, meaning you wont go mad when equipping the mask after the hag is dead, thats literally how you enter the second wooden door which is ONE OF the passages to the underdark

This. I am still on my first play run and this is how I did it this run. Worked the same way in EA, in my over 1 dozen play runs.

Never once needed to use a mask. Did not use one.

Yep, it's why I'm confused why people are clicking on the door when they are told the answer is to click on the other side of the door to force your characters to walk into the next area.

Move the camera behind the door, and click on the ground past the door; your character will just walk through it. The door is an illusion!

Apparently, it's a very good illusion too, since players don't understand that they just can walk through it, even tho the hag shows exactly how to do it. :3

somethign my team never had. ranger, rogue, barb, fighter :)

im just saying it how it is Astarion was wearing that mask from the first door through the entire cave, the boss fight and a good few hours after and he never went mad. he had no buffs or debuffs on him ever.

and even after passing the checks on the 1st door on multiple characters that identified it as an illusion it wouldn't let me walk through ti without the mask.

i would say bug.

edit: as for gear hes wearing hes just loaded up with +stealth and sleight of hand gear.

You don't need to put anything on? You go in her cellar, pass her "playgrounds" face a door. The door is an illusion, you can freely pass through. I assume thats what you meant.

The quest isn't stupid, you just didn't explore your options well enough.

click in the dark fog past the door, that was what the hint was.

Wish we'd have known all these tips, but If none of the other advice works, you can do what we did.
Grab a mask and position party right by the door.
Put it on and immediately run through the door (your party will follow) as soon as you're through remove the mask.
It takes a bit before you lose control of your char. if you're quick, you can do it with no problem.

nobody bothers to read anything anyway they will just keep saying the same hurr durr walk through duh without even bothering to wonder why someone cant

try shadowheart op. if you really cant get it done strip the one who is gonna wear it naked and try again, i think theres a stat scaling bug that might let you fake it

i meant the player int check where the hag tells you to put on the mask and you think about whether thats a good idea for 2 seconds or not
