Gerringothe Thorm - How to maximize rewards
Directions below. Note that being seen by the floating skulls will not aggro Gerringothe. That only occurs when you enter her line of sight. It's easier to explore the building once she's been defeated.

The "puzzle" component is that killing each floating skull will remove 100 HP and a piece of her equipment. Once they're all gone she will have 6 HP and is easy to defeat at that point. However, there is an extra, secret item you can pick up.

1) Make sure you have at least $6,000 on the person that will interact with Gerringothe.

2) Get in her line of sight with your chosen person and a conversation will commence. To get the secret item you will have to select:
"Give her a gold piece"
"How much do you want exactly?"
[She will want all of your gold]
Hand over all of your gold. I believe the amount is at least $6,000, but I didn't test with lower values. Don't worry, you'll get it back once she is defeated.

You will receive the Very Rare item "Signed Trade Visa" that guarantees safe passage to Baldur's Gate. No idea what it does, but will report back once I'm further along in Act 3. If you do know, please leave a comment. You also get ~1,110 EXP versus 500 if you don't take this approach.

3) Gerringothe will de-aggro at this point, which allows you to optimally position your characters. Once you initiate combat the floating skulls will change their locations. There will be 3 by the safe she was checking before and 3 along the corridor she was pacing. You'll want a strong alpha strike to kill them ASAP. They each have 34 HP. You might want to consider putting someone on the roof since they also like to flee up there during the battle.

Once she's dead your gold is refunded and you'll also receive a few other items. If you do not give her all of your gold, then you will receive the common item "Unsigned Trade Visa" along with the other drops.

Im currently on this particular point in the story. So, I've tested the amount of gold you need to get this "Signed Trade Visa". You need exactly 5001 gold (1 coin less and it leads to fight). And I even tested if you can pass the legion camp with this but alas. I used it, had in pockets, but you will get send to prison nonetheless, though the item description says "A visa promising a safe passage to Baldur's Gate, stamped with the letters 'GT'". Its a shame devs didnt put this much thought to skip the towers quest completly, would be actually cool. It's been a week since release and still no info about the item usage if theres one, except that its a secret scroll item "Flesh to Gold" that lets you turn the enemy to gold statue for 3 turns.

Btw, have you made any progress with the story? Did you find out the usage of item?

About the strat to return the gold. I've read a good one, you simply shove that ♥♥♥♥♥ in window with a strong char, it deals 500 damage for me. Only con is shes healing afterwards instanlty and telepotring back, but I placed a sleep trap beforehand. Shes still teleporting but with sleep condition. Not sure if it's bugged or not. Though I managed to destroy one skull after the second push over the window and her hp didnt go down(with the skull destoyed, maybe she was too far below). But with her low hp after the shoving(aprox 100 of her initial 606) I managed to kill her in one turn. With enough tries and savescamming it's doable. Cheers!

Cant understand. What do you mean by scribed to wizard? As for the second question is probably not, but I'll test it later.

"Safe passage to balders gate"

I assume, this means that you won't be attacked if you try to go early.

I haven't tried this myself, but I just went to see if I was completely denied from just skipped moonrise for the hell of it, I got the option to go to balders while the army was camped there, I picked no.

So I would guess this lets you bypass the army. Maybe someone could test it?

But I tested this already, you can't skip it. If you choose to go on, you will get send to prison in moonlight towers.

Possible that we have to present it to a hidden NPC that we've yet to find.

Alternatively; Its cut content (left over item) that wasn't fully cleaned, just like the upper city cut content where we have quests that auto complete because the rest of the quest is missing lol

I didn't get the trade pass, but maybe in Act 3 it can serve as one of the passes you can gain early in Act 3 to gain access to the city proper. Those things are easy to come by, but...I kinda just talked this lady to death the first time, so haven't verified myself.

I used "Signed Trade Visa" on Shadowheart ( right click item-read, and lets you cast it like a spell ) just to see what happens. Its a spell with a CON save, if target fails the save, he gets a 3 turn countdown of a 'Flesh to gold' (stage 1,2 and 3) https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3021934442 and after that the target gets Goldifieded ( permanent condition) https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3021934194 . You can still do damage to the target. I also trieded to longrest and Shadowhart doesnt come to camp she stays in the same location, after long rest she healed even if she was not in camp, but she was still goldified after the long rest. i killed her and after revive the condition is lost.

The item you get is basically a scroll that will petrify a target. But instead of stone, turns them into gold.
Fowo Aug 21, 2023 @ 11:52am
The only thing I wonder is whether you get gold for killing an enemy who is goldified or is it just an easter egg kind of spell that works this slowly and doesn't really help in the game in any way

I did it pretty much the same, but a lot easier, lol.

First you got to hit her with "Bone Chill" which prevents her from healing. Then you want to get her out of the window as far as possible.. With strength/shove you can drink a potion, or you can use thunderwave or an "Arrow of roaring thunder"
Volkodlak Aug 25, 2023 @ 8:20am
To do the achievement you can use stun spells that last 2 turns as a hypnotic pattern so it doesn't attack you right away and quickly kill all the skulls.
