This game makes me feel like I've wandered into a sleazy Hollywood production
Literally everyone wants to bang you. I'm surprised Scratch the Dog hasn't offered to bang me at this point because we're only slightly off bestiality at this point... Oh wait, nevermind that's sort of a thing. It was already off-putting when I couldn't compliment any male companions without them instantly giving me bedroom eyes and asking me to have sex. Then comes the later acts where you're offered BDSM, group, and I'm pretty sure one of the options would make you an unironic cuck. I mean seriously, I like the game but there's so much current societal rot that leaked into the writing of the characters and interactions involving sex or any form of relationships.

They should have really examined how Bioware built up characters. You really had to work and get to know your romantic interest before anything happened. It felt natural. Now it feels like I'm a young woman in a Hollywood production and all my "friends" are paying me compliments so they can convince me to sleep with them. It's really creepy and takes me out of the immersion.

There's also the homosexual aspect of it all where nobody bats an eye to homosexual relationships. It just seems odd that everyone is Bisexual and you can never tell if NPCs are friends or if they're lovers. It's also a medieval fantasy where race is a clear divider and yet somehow sexual orientation has ceased to exist. This isn't how you write human beings. I don't mind gay characters, but it feels like a quarter of the characters in this game are homosexual while the remaining are constantly trying to sleep with you or eachother. It's just really degenerate and not in the fun or funny way.

In a world with Gods, Paladins, and the like shouldn't there be some restraint or some sort of prudishness at some point? I feel like I'm in medieval California. The writing for the main story and environment has been good so far, but the characters really have fallen off the road. It's hard to form any sort of connection with a character when one wrong button press takes you into a sex scene. I think Gale is the one people most complain about because it really does come out of nowhere, but it's a constant problem in the game. You take the player out of the game when suddenly they're hit with an ideological push.

Most people aren't gay so if you force them into a random gay scene suddenly they're confused, a bit disgusted, and thinking about why this is included in the game. It ruins the immersion and ruins your interactions with the character because it's not natural. It's rare to meet a gay friend, let alone have them come onto you in such a fast and brazen way. If anything it promotes the sex pest stereotype of LGBT. In real life this would probably ruin your relationship as it would be clear it was sexual from the start. In here we're supposed to just pretend nothing happened even though you still make passes at me every once in a while. It's just plain weird writing and reeks of social contagion.

I'm at the third act and at this point I'm pretty sick of every character coming onto me. There's no such thing as friendships in this game. It's just everyone constantly trying to get in your pants unless you beat them off. You're forced to turn down almost every character your meet that's important to the story. You're forced into awkward situations because of the developer's social views. I'm tired of this stuff. I don't want to deal with politics or anything in games. I just want to have fun.

For a studio that was raging against industry practices, progressive writing that damages the game wasn't one of them. Sadly it's another flaw this game has despite being very solid in the gameplay department.

I'll quote what I've written in another topic.

I Have no problem with everyone being Bi, except to the fact that storywise it's kind of nuts, and kind of takes away a character trait, since everyone is Bi it's all too obvious, dull... In some games you have gay, bi and straight companions and you can romance them only when you have an aligned sexuality and actually work for it, chase the romantic interest. It makes more sense, and is way better from the story telling point of view. In some games you have a romantic interest in, you work for it, flirt and try your hand only to find out that this person doesn't have an interest in you, either because of who you are or because of different sexual orientation and that's GREAT, life is like that, sometimes you just can't have what you want, for different reasons and that should be OK. A game that is supposed to be a fantasy world grounded on alternative, yet SIMILAR reality, than ours should have likewise situations for us to relate with it. It's not the case here.

The actual problem I have with the way Larian managed this in BG3 is the way it's implemented. Sometimes you just want to be a friend, or NOT A COMPLETE ♥♥♥♥ to someone and the game interact with your choice in a complete sexual way, this bothers me and I think it's the main problem most people are having with this aspect of the game. Choices for sexual/romantic interests should be more obvious to the player, and the choices to refute someone advances should be less ♥♥♥♥ ABOUT it, I don't want to complete destroy a character feelings just because I'm not gay, I can still be friends and respect him. What I REALLY don't want to is to give a response that I thought would be simply respectful/friendly response and that end up being a sexual thing. It literally takes away your CHOICE and that's really bad for an RPG game, the most common example of this is with Gale and the "magic training". Give me choices that I can relate to AND understand what they actually do. This is bad writing and design.

I'm straight, this is just a game and I have zero problems with mine or other people's sexuality. That being said, it's ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ annoying to see every male character trying to boink me every chance they have. Wouldn't want female to be sexually agressive ALL THE TIME either, unless it makes sense like Lae'Zel way of doing things, it's in the Gith race personality to be agressive with all things, including sex (apparently).

The way romance was done in BG3 is just bad. It tones down some of the immersion of the game in a lot of situations. But ok, I got what they did, I just found it to be bad. The rest of the game tho? Mid of act 2 and it's a gem, loving it, wish it was made with DnD 3.5 tho... but can't have everything.

They literally warn you about nudity and you do indeed have the option to avoid it. Post is immediately invalid

The post has been up for like a minute. It's clear you didn't read anything and are just fanboy defending. I don't have a problem with the nudity. I have a problem with the writing.

This post combined with the OP's profile is one of the funniest things I've ever seen on a forum post

Nobody cares if you're gay, it's not special anymore. Also it's pathetic that you're begging for points. Another poster that didn't read a thing considering both of you insta-commented

Agrees that is my main point about this game

I may be old, but what guy compliments other guys beyond "hey, nice truck?" Maybe "good swing."

And you guys wonder why they make a pass at you.

It's cancerous on purpose. Although to be fair I do like Holo a lot, she's a great character. Also, coincidentally, a great example of a properly written character in a love story. I don't need writing that good in a video game, but I at least want to feel like I worked towards a relationship instead of just having everyone I meet instantly want to bang me. If I wanted nudity and easy fake women there's a ton of porn games on steam that clog up the main page. I feel like Huniepop 1 did a better job at a romance plot than this game lmao

Gamers asked for a game like this forever as most of common topics is relationships and even mods that make anyone blush and now that got it, it's no not like this!

And again on nexus mods, the sexual mods pops up just like for Skyrim as they will get worst over time as I believe it all projecting over things we don't even care about.

This whole top section is why people are confused. I don't care if it's fantasy and it's not real. I don't want to feel like I'm in a medieval porno and if I play a female character it's a lesbian medieval porno and the same for my male character.

I don't know why people of the LGBT community are up in arms for people not wanting to partake in their sexuality. Why am I a bigot for not wanting to have gay sex if I'm straight. I haven't even had straight sex in the game. Can it be okay I don't want any sex or romance? And then people throw out well Dragon Age had romance and this game had romance. Which I also took no part in when I played, straight or homosexual. instead I go to camp just for one of the NPCs not in my party to tell me they won't ♥♥♥♥ me tonight and they'll be sleeping alone.

Cool, really added to the fantasy DnD aspect I was looking for, getting forcibly turned down from a sexual interaction I didn't want to be apart of.

In the case of Gale, he offers to show you how to do magic. You copy him and then he suddenly gives you bedroom eyes and talks about how erotic it all is. All I wanted was to be friends with the dude and learn some magic. Instead he comes onto the player character and tries to sleep with you. In real life this would be creepy behavior which is why people have such a problem with it. Some of these don't have any hints that it's romantic. They seem like simple compliments but it quickly devolves into the character trying to sleep with you.

It's just bad writing and ruins any room for friends you could have made. Bioware did this aspect much better in their games and it's something Larian should really learn from in their future titles.

I mean, I'm just at the start of act 2 (though I'm restarting because I wanna go rogue) and I thought this was kinda exaggerated since I've just had some wine with Shadowheart, but everybody seems to be having this problem now, maybe worth taking a look. I dunno about gay stuff because Gale left my party after I told him he can't destroy my magic items, and my relation with Shadowheart seems to have locked me in before Wyll started giving me eyes...well...eye.

Jaheira started wanting to bang me less than a week after her husband died. Bioware romances felt many things, natural definitely being not one of them.

Everyone being sort of bi is kinda canon in Forgotten Realms, as is polyamoury being common place, Alustriel tends to be looked at as the "Galadriel" of the setting and she had like 13 kids of different fathers and bisexual orgies everyday. Ed Greenwood is a hippy librarian, with all that it brings, for good or ill.

Nope when your Gods themselves encourage it. Loviatar is literally a Goddess of BDSM, Shiallia used to genderswap her male clerics some years so they got pregnant and gave birth and Lolth makes her priestesses have sex with weird giant crab horse demons. This is not a World of restraints. Prostitution in the realms also takes the form of sacred prostitution most of the time with both Sune and Sharess being the main patrons.

Why do people keep him? It's like you don't respect loot.

Only time I've been forced into a "gay scene" was with Anders in Dragon Age 2, one of those "natural Romances" Bioware games you mentioned before.

Do they keep coming after you tell them no?
