They already said it's unlikely they will increase maximum class levels due to the challenges involved.
Meanwhile, a level 20 character in Forgotten Realms is a legendary hero who can shape the world with their actions and influence. They can face dragons, demons, liches, and even gods without fear. They can cast spells that can alter reality, create or destroy entire realms, or grant wishes. They can also master any weapon, skill, or art that they choose. They are the epitome of their chosen class and have access to the most extraordinary abilities and features.
That DOES sounds awesome, though I think this one is supposed to be more like a balanced module with a definitive ending. Many campaigns don't take the players from 1-20.
And in Wrath of the Righteous they had to essentially completely rework the Mythic Path system from how it worked in the tabletop.
I suppose Larian could technically do the same here, but it would clash with how open and complete the rest of the game is.
Level 20 is peak of mortal potential. Even Elminster is level 22 now iirc, and he's a thirteen century old immortal archmage.
Also there's a mod for that, UnlockLevelCurve - Launch (Level 13-20). It's not complete yet, some class features are missing, but it works without a hitch.
No new spells*, but you can cast old ones with higher level spell slots.
*There is a mod for that too.
There's actually a mod on the nexus mod site that does EXACTLY that.
Guess i gonna stick into Pathfinder Wrath of the Righteous, after the hype from BG3 fade. WoTR is way better game than this one, just lack this quality of Cinematographics, and graphics in general, but in terms of story, character developments, classes, multi class etc, just destroys BG3, in every aspect.
- It makes the class progression feel "incomplete", for lack of a better word.
- It makes the other levels pointless if hardly anyone actually uses them because "they make you too strong". If level 12 is the "ideal" maximum, why even have levels 13-20?
Pathfinder does the same thing, only better. D&D is simpler, but it lacks depth. Same with the PoE series, they are better, but less "digerible" from people, due to their complexity
