Bg3 should take a tip from SWTOR conversation
There should be a dice roll for every player that picks dialogue. Each player gets the respective approval from their personal choice, and the highest roll gets to actually speak.

The whole fun of multiplayer D&D is your friends ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ with you and having silly or unpredictable outcomes. If you're open to a multiplayer game, everyone shoul get the chance to speak. It makes it more immersive and dynamic.

Your other players can vote, so it's more up to the host on how they wanna play. I'm playing a side campaign with two friends rn, and we decided to take the top vote choice and roll with it. But we had to make that choice as a group. Plus the mp in here is far different than a pug conversation in SWTOR. I think Larian guessed that most people would play with someone they knew and would balance the conversation choice.

It's ridiculous they didn't add multiplayer functionality to dialogues. What did they think they were making all those years in development?

It will be a miracle if this ever changes. Larian took the low-effort route and there's been very little blowback about it.
