What I did was have people fly as far as they could and then anyone with teleport would send themselves and another party member to just in front of the crown. My Main character has the shield of invulnerability (or whatever) so I cast that to cover everyone and then initiated the Dominate the Mind action. You should try to kill or occupy the Mind Flayers because you need to have the character with the stones go the full round without getting their concentration broken. Once you've done that, you can advance
I really can't say I ever had any difficulty dealing the damage at the end. 4 rounds with all 5 of you attacking it should be more than enough time.
I do not see how to beat this at all. A dragon, several thrall party members, and several illithid who do 1/4 to 1/2 the health a hit. I can’t even get reliably to the brain.
My main is a wizard, and I took abjuration Gale with me, and I just juggle-walked cross the middle with Globe of Invulnerability... xD
you may play in easy but it seems you did not properly recruit your allies.
the more sub quests you do, some hidden, the more allies will help you for that fight, and the less reinforcement the enemy will have.
For instance, you can recruit a dragon too... if you know where to go, and how to unlock it.
in the end it all depends how you played your game, Easiest difficulty does not mean easy at all if you ♥♥♥♥♥♥ up choices earlier in the game and did not recruit allies.
if it's any indication, i can do well over 500 damage in a turn provided i just rested.
if that's any help
warlock/pala (6/6)
10 storm cleric + 2 fighter
7 storm cleric + 5 eldritch knight (tank)
5 rogue/7 ranger (dual wield ranged)
i one turned the "mecha" boss in act 3 earlier for instance.
-get everyone to the portal as fast as possible
-don’t let your spell caster get cancelled by the thrall on the right. I used telekinesis to throw him at the dragon and make him prone so I could use dimension door and give myself a head start
-had the emperor use telekinesis to throw enemies around that were causing too much trouble also
-Shadowheart had to use divine intervention at the portal to heal everyone for the last push
-just got lucky the emperor managed to save during the numerous attacks while he focused on the spell
Was a real ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥
I had a rogue and a ranger do basically everything. my barb just was there to kill the tentacles and soak some dmg and the cleric did absolutely nothing as he always did, but standing there and watching the real classes do the work.
I just didn't waste my turns on summoning allies and instead attacked with my characters. the emperor and the dragon were both dead before they had an action.
But in this case the OP was making it much more difficult than it is. For anyone in doubt, there is no reason to fight the dragon. Avoid it as much as possible. Get Orpheus or who ever has the stones to the crown and kill the mind flayers who will try to stun him. After the cut scene if you did that your characters should be near the portal so run through as fast as you can. Considering that the brain does not really fight back, whittling it down to 0 actually is easy.
You really don't need allies although I summoned a couple of elementals just to distract some of the rabble which of course you can do before the fight starts.
You can use the dragon breath to take out 2 of the Mind Flayers on the upper platforms.
You should be able to get your party to the portal area as a priority. Don't engage the hostiles, just focus on getting up there fast using things like Misty Step, Dimension Door, Dash and so on. Make sure they all go in together as you only have 5 turns once inside to take down the brain. If you've got all 5 inside you should be home and dry.
