Music kinda sucks
I could be here talking about all the music that marked my life in gaming. From the Mass Effect sure memorable soundtrack and momentous music, or the Guild Wars 2 moments in which the music bombards you with emotions. Almost everyone has memories of setting foot in Undercity or Orgrimmar, Stormwind maybe, even in Moroc in Ragnarok online, or "cheaper yet", project Zomboid desolating "slav" song. "That is how you died".
I have always been amazed by most music in games, and this game features BARDS even. In FFXIV you have bards, and the music in that game does put them to shame.
For a game that people are daring to say "will change the market", besides all the bugs and bad writing you came to expect from the AAAest of the AAAest games, so no surprise there, the music is terrible.
After over 100 hours of game, I simple dont listen to it anymore. The music becomes irritating after a while, because it mostly does not go with the ambience it is in, and the only really "thrilling" music (start only) is the gregorian chant in the main menu.
Dont get me wrong, again, I like the game, and it is fun to play.
But it is not something that will "redefine gaming market" or "justify the hype". IT has a LONG way to worth the price paid even. Not that I had a problem with it, because I am blessed with a good job that pays well and not living in the US which costs of living are horrendous, so I do have the money to "throw" at the game, but it does not worth more than a lot of games much cheaper than it.
So, when I see people saying this game going to redefine game industry, what I understand is that they are saying: "Incomplete games, riddled with basic bugs, like not triggering a quest step unless you know already how it would go, cinematics that focus on the backs and only backs of characters while you talking to them, not even the -behinds- for shock effect, but the back part of chainmail armor, and dialogue that sometimes looks like something ChatGPT would say in a TTS voice", I would say: Well, this already is what steam is full of. But much cheaper.
If you talk about the graphics or systems, most of it anyone can make by just downloading Unreal Engine 4 (not even 5) and asset flipping some of the Unreal store assets, many of them free. I can even link you a suit in Unreal Engine 4 that already rigged cinematic characters so you can make cinematics better than any in Baldur's Gate 3 from your own PC.
Honestly, the game would be better served with less hype and more "we are learning guys", because that is what is happening here: Learning.

I love the soundtrack. Mass Effect's soundtrack was ♥♥♥♥♥ apart from the map music.

It's all about perspective. Although it seems a little low to criticize the game from that subjective perspective.

The music of Mass Effect seems forgettable to me, as well as that of Guild Wars 2, which did not generate anything to me. And the music from Ragnarok online and project Zomboid seem like a joke to me, do they have music?

But none of those games seem bad to me, well Ragnarok maybe yes but that's not the point.

I'll take the World of Warcraft one because it's ridiculously good at least in its time of splendor

As for the BG3 you have:

Song Of Balduran
The Legacy Of Bhaal
Raphael's Final Act
Down By The River
I Want to live, in all its versions
The power

All of those tracks are spectacular, the problem is that most of them are at times when you are either stressed or at camp so you find yourself listening to them many times.

But once you're in the credits and you realize that it may be the last time you hear them for a long time, you don't want to leave.

Regarding the topic of the industry, I think you are not realizing that the norm today is a Starfield or a Cyberpunk (on its release).

So yes, unfortunately right now this game is the best. It is a breaking point, it is like a Red dead redemption 2 or a Zelda BotW/TotK, games that cannot be copied and it will be a long time before we see something like it.

I dare you to try Pillars Of Eternity 1 and 2, Wasteland 2 and 3, Pathfinder: Kingmaker or Wrath of the Righteous and say that any of those games are better than Baldur's gate 3.

And no, I'm not saying it's perfect, it has a thousand problems and in my opinion, a horrendous handling of the sexuality of its main characters, but one thing doesn't take away from the other.

At what point we can all agree people are going on chat.gpt and posting the weirdest questions like "why does BG3 music sucks?" and then post the results here.

I personally know one of the singers attached to the project. She is a wonderful person but sadly I am no fan of her work (she works at a musical theatre) so I was expecting the ost for BG 3 not to be great. But then again- music taste is a subjective thing so since you enjoy it - that’s great))) Me? I will stick to other soundtracks.
