Why turning in mindflayer is bad?
So I'm still playing through the 1st act, but I wonder what so bad in turning in mindflayer? From what I understand the main issue that they eat brain? Does it really matter when you kill so many enemies anyway? It seems that they have a lot of psycho powers and seem to be intelligent and pretty strong? I don't think there any problems with carnal desires because your teammates will gladly lay with a bear.
So what the cons?

I completely agree. Most of the characters in this game are trash and deserve to be dominated by mind flayers.

Don't think you have anymore free will as a Mind Flayer when you turn and are subject to the hive mind. Could be wrong, I'm new to D&D but the bit of lore I've picked up on so far seems to indicate that.

I agree that at least you were chosen to be turned into one instead of picked to be a slave or food. :D

you lose yourself to be a part of a hive mind

This is an RPG. You know, role playing game.
The issue is that you die and get take over by a parasite.

Because Mindflayers lose their free will and become subjects of the Elder Brain. Due to a prophecy the mindflayers have, if they so much as sniff a free-thinking mindflayer, they purge it. Becoming a mindflayer means becoming a slave.

part of the "normal" transformation is that you stop actually being you.

As in your personality and memory are gone, you are a "mindless" husk under the complete control of the tadpole.

after Ceromorphosis you are no longer "you" even in body, as your body changes into an Illithid and become a Mindflayer.

You don't really turn into a mind flayer, the parasite in your brain consumes you and becomes a full grown mind flayer

It not you, its your body, the parasite replaces your consciousness.

"Ceremorphosis was a bodily change that occurred when an illithid tadpole reached maturity and was inserted into the brain of another being, usually a human. The tadpole ate away the victim's brain matter and essentially replaced the brain, erasing all of the subject's personality and memory, but leaving the physical body alive and under the tadpole's control. After this, morphological transformations occurred and after a week a new illithid was created.["

Uhh.. it's not so much you turning into a mindflayer.. It's more like the worm eats your brain and transforms your body at the same time. Your soul ends up in the afterlife with no chance at resurrection because your body has been hijacked :urist:

This.
You will be gone. Dead.

It's bad because you are no longer you, but a puppet of the elder brain.

I'm not that far either, but as I understand it, it's like letting a tape worm consume your entire body -- you do not become the tape worm, you are dead.

Well, from a RP perspective, when you turn into a mindflayer, you are no longer you, the tadpole takes over and matures.

From a game perspective, has anyone yet confirmed it is possible to get to the point where you transform and continue playing as a mindflayer?

I mean, laying with a druid-bear at least involves consent compared to eating people's brains, lol

The player stops controlling the main character completely upon ceremorphosis with no opportunity to regain control, and when the main player character is permanently unplayable, the game ends.
