Infernal Rapier is super disappointing for Pact of the Blade

Wyll quest reward spoilers.

The Infernal Rapier from rescuing Mizora and succesfully asking for an extra reward is at a glance a fantastic weapon, but for a blade pact warlock its value is massively diminished. It has the spellcasting modifier as attack/damage bonus effect of a pact weapon as a baseline, and its damage beyond that is just 1d8+2. 5 minutes before I got this I was killing enemies who dropped green 1d8+1d6+1 weapons! I really feel like it should have like, an extra 1d6 fire damage on it or something. The extra effects on it ARE good, and the active ability is probably going to be worth losing an extra 1d6 damage per hit for but it does feel like a kind of meagre trade. if I got this with Wyll as pact of the chain or tome I'd be laughing, but for pact of the blade - which I imagine a lot of people are building him as (he's called the flippin blade of frontiers) it's a big sacrifice in melee damage and a kind of disappointing reward just because I've chosen apparently chosen the wrong pact.

You're gonna get more damage out of the Cambion Summon than using a better weapon. Adding fire damage to it is just overkill.

Honestly from my experience the Cambion sucks at this stage of the game. His hit chance is rarely that high and his melee attack(which he doesn't have multiattack with) barely deals that much damage. Outside of just tanking extra damage he's never been useful when I've summoned him.

Got the weapon today. The Cambion comes super handy with his 82 HP. Alongside the Quasit & Imp its good to have a bit more of distraction. And the fire attack from him does a lot of damage to mindflayers, so far im really impressed. One of the best weapons i've got now.

You're comparing this to a weapon that does an extra 1d6 per swing? This sword lets you cast three Rays of Fire per round (+6 attack roll for each) for 3d6 fire damage each, without costing any action. That's potentially 9d6 actionless extra damage, every turn. EVERY TURN!

Y'all are nuts if you don't realize how good this weapon is...

If it isn't apparent, the option to ask for an extra reward (the rapier) only appears if Wyll is present.

You can use it for dual wielding with the pact of the blade. A pact has effect only for the weapon in the right hand. This sword will have the same effect on the off hand. In order to work this combination requires to have two weapon fighting style - by multiclass or with gloves that give the same effect. Also, two weapon feat to use not light weapons. Also effect of Arcane Synergy would be helpful - with the ring you can combine melle attacks with Eldrich Blast. Even use bonus action after using the cantrip.
