Filling empty buckets and bottles
Isn't there any way of filling buckets or bottles with anything (water, oil, poison etc) or am I carrying them for nothing?

Most things which have some utility will have more than just a weight and value on their Inspect window. There's a LOT of little rubbish items strewn about with almost no value whatsoever.

Just a thought,i was thinking the same thing...but maybe that water pump....where you fight with Karlach ....the paladins of tyr,in that backroom theres a waterpump..maybe placing the buckets and or bottle would fill em?

This is where I started questioning the mechanics. I already tried it and they don't get filled.
I also tried "create water" spell as well, it doesn't work.

Tried it did not work. It only makes your character be wet for 3 turns.

I spent many hours carting around hundreds of random bottles, rags, skulls, bones, gems, rope, until I eventually decided that this game probably doesnt have a crafting system and I could safely sell it all :P

There are water pumps scattered where your character can fill them. (EDIT: I've done it several places, but the buckets have to be placed correctly.) The filled buckets can be used on fire surfaces to douse a small area or dirt to create small mud surfaces or douse someone on fire or create a small wet area. (Mud and wet areas can have damage types applied to them to change their surface type.)

(NOTE: There are situations where dousing something it temporary and situations where dousing doesn't work at all.)

You can also have your characters use the water pumps to wash the grime off themselves. Grime accumulates as the characters take actions (in or out of combat). (It looks like they're sweating mud imo.)

Maybe the Pump at the Troll house is bugged, because I don't even see water animation, only droplets at the ceiling when I pump it.
Could you tell me where else I can find a pump so I can try that one?

How did you do that? I have tried for 30 minutes straight at the Toll-house water pump and only getting my character and the floor wet

I can confirm that it is possible, but it's extremely finicky and you have to place it in a pixel perfect spot to make it work. I have only been able to do this once after dozens of attempts and can't replicate it again, it's possible that it's bugged or something.

Many of these items seem to just be barbarian throw ammo or light & throw (in dark areas) disposables. Many of them do not seem to survive throwing.

Hey so I know this might be a dead thread but I came back to this wondering if you could cast the grease spell onto a surface with bottles scattered around the area to fill those bottles and effectively turn them into bottles of grease? Since this was discussing the process of *filling* buckets/bottles
