what is good skills for shadowheart?
i find most of what she uses kinda useless.. i just went up in lvl and on a whim got Prayer of healing only to realize you can only use it outside of combat then what is the ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ point?.
when you can just take a bottle or a tiny rest to heal up instead of losing a spell point. can anyone make me make her better lol.

yea that is another point i dont get with the game.. where to put the correct points into.. it doesnt rellly state how much gives what.. i had no clue you can have medium armor without medium access just by putting point in something.

Shadowheart does have medium armour proficiency. You can check it on her character page. (Inventory page and on the left side you see her stats, there are 3 submenus there, the second or third one will show her feats, however it will be like something "militia training" which entails light and medium armour proficiency.)
The issue is, that quite often the "feats" you get on level 4 offer you feats you already have. For instance i had to check like all my characters what feats do they even have, because i was like why is medium armour proficiency available as a feat for my ranger and for Shadowheart, both are wearing it without any malus...and why does Wyll have light armour proficiency when he is wearing it, and without any malus.
Like there is a feat which gives you 4 weapon proficiency's +1 to str or dex, those for instance with Lae'zal and a Ranger you cannot even select as they have every weapon proficiency. So there are some clunkinesses with the feats as wewll, and how they are "available".
What i advise is usually it is a good idea to take Relentless or the double points.
But on certain characters there might be something better.

You miread him, she starts with medium armour and that type of armour has a +2 max bonus from dexterity. 14 gives +2

I use her as my main healer also I skilled her to be useful against the undead, having her guardian spirits active while the party stays close to her works really well, also having the rune trap for her gives her a decent AOE spell + with a good shield and armor she can take some hits. All this makes her unreplacable in my party. Melee isn't her strong suit but thats not what I use her for anyways.

I respec her to life cleric or use a hireling

Shadowheart is a tank kind of character. On level 4 i took ability improvement and raised her dex to 14, and wisdom by 1 point. With dex 14 she gets the max bonus from medium armour without mastery. Gave her a shield and she is sitting on 19 AC without any buffs.
.

you get the same ac with a dex bonus of 0 and chainmail +1 with a shield.

points in str or con is much more useful than dex. Especially if all you want from dexterity is ac.

Sorry for double post. Your comment was not readable while i posted. (It was still under hidden under that under review thingie.)

I know but Shadowheart does not have much str, and heavy armour weighs a ton.

With +1 to dexterity you get a bonus to your AC. You get a bonus to your dexterity save (almost wrote reflex:D) which usually is the lowest for clerics...or used to be when there was reflex save. Thirdly since as a cleric your weapon proficiencies are limited, however your char is a half-elf, you can use scimitars, repiers, ss-s, daggers. So finesse weapons, meaning you also get +1 to hit and +1 damage. (And the same for ranged weapons.)

Edit: To clarify about the AC for the OP. Since i just read Snake_In_The_Eye's correction.

Shadowheart starts with 13 dex and wears medium armour. Medium armour allows only +2 dex bonus. So for instance if you are wearing the githyanki half plate with her which has 15 AC as base and allows for +2 dex bonus, Shadowheart would only have 16 AC. Because she has the 15 AC from the armour, and +1 from her dex bonus. But if you raise her dex to 14, she can now have the +2 dex bonus, thus her ac would increase to 17 AC. A shield adds +2 to that, and if you use shield of faith spell that is another +2.
(Also you can further increase the max dex bonus with medium armour mastery but not sure if it is worth it. Since we get only 3 feats for her.)

She's a good person to give most of your scrolls/grease bottles too. So if she doesn't have cleric spell to cast she can do something else. Not everything is about damage. Sometimes controlling your enemies is more important.

People think your entire party should be dedicated to damage but that's not really the case.

Bless, Guidance and other ability check boosts, Command, Calm Emotions, Zone of Truth. Shadowheart is maybe the single most important companion for non-combat situations and dialogue encounters. Cleric also has some good pet spells like Spirit Guardians and Spiritual Weapon.

Dudes, respec Shadowheart to a different type of Cleric than the default one. Like Light, War or Tempest. The default one is garbage. I respected mine to Tempest and she is my best damage dealer. She has a ward spell that at level 5 basically kills any of the toons you throw it on. Except maybe a boss. And I mean everyone within the circle. If they walk onto the circle it does it too but it seems only the first one. If you throw water on the enemies and use an electrical power, which she has several of, she will shock them to death. And she can make water herself and drench any in the circle. And she has a few other offensive spells as well. Like Thunderwave. She also has a passive that guarantees max damage on some spells. It will ask you first if you want to use the passive. And she has a passive that will go off if she takes physical damage in melee range. Then she can front-line a little bit and she has a spell that can cause any heal spell to ALWAYS heal at the max amount. And she has several heal spells.

Her one drawback for me is her and Lae'zel do not get along very well. To the point of me having to make a very difficult choice. This especially sucked because Lae'zel and my female elf ranger sort of had an S&M thing going on from VERY early on that I made no attempt at all to do. I am not making this up. I never knew being subservient to a female toon could be so much fun. LOL.
