In this game range enemies are one of the most anoying units ever. They constantly move away and deal such insane damage to your units before you can even do anything.
Im loving my ranger.
But...

Paladin is the best protagonist char , high cha meaning great persuasion and intimidation .
6 Paladin , 6 sorc , the best Paladin build period . Low maintenance , newb friendly , You got yourself a demigod killing machine by the time you hit 12.
They're pretty good and fun allrounders in DnD, you can meele, range attack & do magic (offense and support) and you get to have some funny roleplaying moments. Plus you can play music for other people and earn a little gold at times, lol. :)

There are great tutorials on youtube.
