I really hate how sexual companions are

I really hate how sexual the game is in general, and think it ruins certain companions.

Why does every companion's arc need to be a romance? Where is Korgan when you need him? Or Edwin? Where are "bro" characters like Wrex from ME? Or Zaeed, who was similar to Canderous from KOTOR.

Instead we have Gale, who keeps trying to rope the player into weird dates by lying and saying he wants to practice magic, or by saying he has something really "important" to discuss, which turns out to be a stargazing date where you automatically sit awkwardly close to him.

Or Lae'zel, who goes from being a cool fantasy Klingon to ranting about how wild the smell of your sweat drives her with only a handful of influence boosts. Maybe that's fine in her case though, since she is a Chaotic Evil frog alien, but what's annoying is that every other companion also tries to take things down a sexual or romantic route by default.

And it's *sort of* fine in Minthara's case, as she's a Drow and they're a bit like that. (Though actually, her lack of sexism is also noticeable. She doesn't seem to care if someone is male or female, which isn't normal for a Drow. Maybe this is a 5E thing.) But I still find it weird that the player is railroaded into sexuality immediately after battle. There's no option to flirt with her or look her over. It's just "hey, you did really well killing those civilians..." and then she shoves a bunch of sexual imagery into your character's brain.

I'm not saying that the game should be censored. I'm saying that there should be some more red flags that you are going down a romance path with a character before such awkwardness. Everywhere my character goes, someone is making advances. He can't even be friendly to someone of the same sex without them interpreting it as romantic interest.

I just find the whole thing off-putting and it takes me out of the game. I wanted an RPG not a sexual harassment simulator.

I know the standard defense for this seems to be "oh, you must have sought it out", which I don't think people realize sounds a lot like "oh, you were asking for it", but it really requires nothing but being friendly for most NPCs, and I challenge anyone making this defense to post the dialog flags they say are so obvious for Lae'zel, Minthara or Gale.

The people that are saying they aren't experiencing "player sexual" content are liars. As soon as someone says "I've played baldurs gate 3 without any sexual interactions!" you should just block them because they're being malicious for political reasons.

You can go on any BG3 forum and all of them are talking about this topic right now so obviously it's an issue.

Not sure what your point is. Every one of those scenes is easily avoidable. Or you can turn off nudity and sex scenes altogether. Or, if you're bothered it's there in the first place, go play a different ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ game.

The point is precisely that many of us want to play a role-playing game and not a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ game. There's already tons of those on Steam.

The only difference is that, in all those ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ games, you have to find the right dialogues to trigger the ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥, while in BG3 you have to find the right dialogues NOT to trigger the ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥...

This is the original thread where people advocated for a decency filter. Well, when the "player sexual" gamers got wind of it, they:

A. Frustrated dialogue with the same verbal tricks you see here [Just say no bro! You're gay if you notice it! etc]
B. Got outed as pedophiles
C. Started making burner accounts to be as offensive as possible and got the thread nuked, presumably to cover up point B and more importantly, that they were greatly outnumbered by family friendly gamers and didn't want a 2k post megathread being dominated by somebody that wasnt them.

I don't really want to bring up this old point or start drama, but if anybody is wondering why we don't have a megathread for this anymore, just read this thread.

I agree, I hadn't even talked to Astarion, since first meeting him, my party was full, so I sent him straight to camp. as soon as I go back to camp and decide to have a chat with him, he is immediately trying to get me into bed. maybe that's just his character. but I hadn't had ANY previous dialog with him that would even suggest I was interested. same for the rest, the moment that I decided I would go down the Karlach romance path, every other character is trying to convince me why I should sleep with them instead.

I've heard Larion state there is a bug, that automatically sets some characters to the highest possible approval rating. it would be nice if they were a bit more chill though.

Astarion and Lae'zel are both companions who ♥♥♥♥ immediately because its supposed to be purely physical, not a romance deal. Not until you hit them up a second time for sex does it start going down a romance path.
